I know the Jeep V6/V8 debate will continue on. But in my own experience, my first new Jeep soon after high school was a 1975 Jeep J-10 with a 360 V8. Weight 4,900. HP 175. Torque 285. My new 2024 JTR with the 3.6 weighs 5,500. HP 285. Torque 260.

So my JTR weighs 600 lb. more, has an engine with 110 more HP, 25 less torque, and gets nearly 50% better gas mileage. The JTR will go places my older J-10 would not think of.

I never would have dreamed to get close to 20 MPG in my old J-10. And the JTR's weight is due to a lot of good stuff (chassis, suspension, Dana 44's, etc.) that the J-10 never had.

Do I yearn for the big V8? Not really. I'll live with the V6.

I like where your head’s at. Couldn’t imagine passing vehicles on a 2 lane with the old Jeeps either. No sweat for the JT in 3.6 form.

Does it really need a V8? No! But if Wrangler can have a V8, what in the hell keeps Jeep from dropping one in the Gladiator? Nothing is the correct answer. It is, and has always been about combined fuel mileage to meet .gov standards. So they give you this bs about towing capabilities to shut you up. I was shoving 351 Winsors into Pintos in a garage back in the 80s and 90s. Put a 350 in a CJ-7. History has shown V8s in a lot of small packages from factory, aftermarket, and home grown. If they wanted it in there, it would be. I am sure the fear is too many would sell and screw up their numbers. With a new sheriff in town, this should not really be a problem.
Don't lie to me about tow ratings. If we can put a man on the moon, we can put a V8 in a gladiator. If I want to be lied to, I will hire a hooker. I hate liars. Nothing pisses me off more than someone to lie to me. If you reeally can't figure it out, hire me, and I will do your job for you. So sick and tired of excuses. Must be a lazy society of lies and excuses. It would not even be a topic if not for Wrangler strutting around with a V8 proving it can be done.

My final thought is does it make sense to put a v8 in the gladiator when every other vehicle in this segment does not have one? The answer is simple. It makes no sense to put a V8 in a gladiator from any angle except two. Wrangler already has it, and we just want it.

I almost forgot!!

Hello August! Here's your monthly reminder that there hasn't been, isn't now, and never will be a factory V8 in the Jeep Gladiator!

Have a great day!

I have been wrong so very many times 🙄
Sorry, my attempt at sarcasm didn’t mean to imply that or group you with that TK dude. Was just trying to say he’s probably wrong and that’s based on what you said.
