Spoke with shop gonna go 5.13 Revolution gears. Been driving Jeep in 7th which is equivalent to 5.13s RPM wise and actually gained a little gas mileage with plenty of power to climb hills or deal with high wind.

What I don't understand is Jeep offers 4.88s as an option on Rubicons with 33s or 35s. Why would the Gladiator not get that as its way heavier and will haul or tow more than a Barbie doll Wrangler? I think they don't want the JT to outsell the un practical JL or JLU. That's FCA for you dumb as a box of rocks.

Jeep doesn't hold 8th unless no hills or wind. I want 100% full use of 8th gear. No reason to live in 7th when you have an 8 sp.
There is one reason... if you wanted to sell your JT with a like new, rarely used 8th gear...

I don't think your issue was caused by running 5.13 instead of 4.88.

There are a ton of people running 5.13 with no issues.
Some food for thought!
I was running 37’s on my old Gaser and went 5.13’s and towed my trailer weighing 5,200 dry and blew up my rear end on a trip to a family reunion, limping into the campground. If you’re towing, 4.88 would be the better choice. When I upgraded the gears, towing wasn’t something I’d thought much about.

This was caused by improper gear setup not the mechanical advantage

I just had Revolution 5.13's put in a few weeks ago. Going in tomorrow for my 500 mile diff oil change, and new diff covers.

Oil change is included in the regear price, and they are going to put on the new diff covers (Metalcloak) at the same time. Should take about an hour.

You won't be dissapointed.

That is how my JTW with 3.73 with 32s and my JTR with 33s behaved stock. 8th is an overdrive and it is not designed to stay in 7th or 8th under load going up hill. Especially with a low torque engine. Now the JTR with 35" does the same thing. I still see 8th but slightly less frequent than with 33". Would I like to regear? YES. I would do it for other reasons, I live at high elevations and tow a camper and a flat bed trailer. Not to see 8th.

I've regeard other vehicles. My current YJ, I did 4.88s. It performs better but it was not a night and day, Holy F, what a difference it makes. Will it perform better absolutely, just tamper expectations as you are still dealing with a low torque engine. If I regear I'll do 4.88. I think it is a good compromise. For now I'll use the money to buy a 2 post car lift for my new garage.

I'm running 5.13 gears with 35s, and I am absolutely delighted with the setup. There's no downside whatsoever. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Happy for you but to say there is no downside is up to the eye of the beholder. Gas mileage will hurt, possible vibrations, bad setup, changing engine operating range to higher RPM, smaller pinion. Most regear for larger tires so an indirect downside is much more unsprung weight at the corners and additional effort to get the truck moving. Gigantic tires eventually wear things faster.

Anyone on the fence about 5.13s don't be. 4.88s are a waste with the 850RE. Feels like a Ferrari compared to the 4.10s. She has low end torque now. Will definitely chirp the tires easy on dry pavement if you aren't careful.

Break in completed. Love the added performance over the mall crawler 4.10s. The Pentastar really loves to be around 2200 to 2600. Under 2k zero power to hold 8th gear and depending upon speed even 7th.

From what I've read on this forum you can go up to 35s and the 4.10s will still be good. When you go up to 37s you would want to regear to 4.88s or 5.13s.
I went from 33s to 35s with 4.10s and no real difference that I could tell.
Same here....went to 35's. 4:10s are perfect. When I up to 37's, thinking 5:13's too.
