I keep meaning to look for black anodized coupling nuts that would be longer and I wouldn't need the spacers anymore but I keep forgetting. Gotta put a reminder in my phone.

I ordered these scooter mirrors for $3.99 each (no seriously, the shipping was more than the mirrors). Finally got to try them out last week when I took my doors off for the first time. They are absolutely fantastic, I cannot fathom paying any more. They thread right into the cowl panel holes when you remove one of the bolts. You'll see a white nylon spacer in there, I only put that in to keep from scratching the paint around the recess with my little adjustable. 30 second install. Did a 4+ hour trip at 70+ on the highway and they are nice and stable.

The one on the passenger side is a little obstructed by the dash but still usable. But even if you're not worried about using it, it keeps you legal for your municipality. The driver's side one functions perfectly.

If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one (or two) up.

The same mirrors are available anywhere but I can't see paying a stratospheric $7.99 when Autozone has them for $3.99:

Thank you, Just ordered from Oreillys w/price match. Picking up (less than 1.5 miles away) so NO shipping and also receiving a Military Discount. It was funny because all of the reviews were from Jeep owners. One mentioned they will thread into the door hinge as well... But someone else would have to comment on if that works.

Anyone have an issue with these bending the cowl where they thread in? There seems to be a decent amount of flex on the jeep if you apply some pressure. I had some random kid try to climb in my jeep and he grabbed the mirror as a handle and luckily it just unscrewed, but the mounting location on the jeep looked like it will deform. I'd hate to have someone squeeze between my jeep and their car and damage the cowl

They're surprisingly sturdy but yeah if someone hangs on them they're going to bend. I'd worry more about them cracking the cowl panel of that happens vs doing anything to the cowl though. Don't people watch their kids anymore? That is infuriating and not something you should even have to worry about.

No, no damage. The mirror just unscrewed instead of bending because he pulled counter clockwise. It got ke thinking that if someone careless was walking by the jeep and walks into the mirrors it could bent the mounting point on the jeep

Thats basically my concern. If the mirror bends it's a few bucks to replace. If the cowl deforms that will be much more expensive. Don't get me started on stupid kids. I had a pair of kids who I don't know and my kids don't know jump in the bed of my truck while I was about to leave with a camper attached. If I didn't look back one more time at the camper I would have run over one of them by accident.

I know the panel that these screw into is plastic, but recommend a nylon washer if preserving the paint is important to you. I removed mine to day to put my doors on for a trip, and I guess I tightened them too much.
