The US isn't ready for full-electric, full stop. For instance, I live in the middle of nowhere in Washington. We routinely have to travel more than 100mi just for grocery shopping. My inlaws live about 250mi away and we visit them regularly. There are not many full-electric cars on the market that could do those things without having to charge, and charger availability is very problematic.
We have a Tesla charge station in town, it was added about a year or two ago. It was great for Tesla owners until the power went out on that side of town and left several people stranded. Even worse, that side of town is the "dead" side, no restaurants no hotels. Not even any bathrooms.
Electric hybrids like the 4xe just make so much more sense in the interim, at least until infrastructure is improved.
