Oh boy so conflicted.

285/70r17 vs 285/75r17

32.8 vs 33.9”

same tire k02. C rated vs E

big thing is 10 lb per tire less weight on the 70r15

but like all jeep heads bigger = better lol

what kinda performance would I be looking at for 10 lb unsprung weight each vs the heavier tire?

be geared 4.10 either way.

Reduced acceleration, increased braking distance, and reduced MPG.

How much is hard to say, and you may or may not notice it. Just depends on whether or not those things matter to you.

Found this on another forum, guy running through a lot of examples of dunno runs on same rig w different things:

DYNO - Factory 2012 Camaro SS
  • Aftermarket wheels: 20"x9.0" with Pirelli 275/40-20 tires weighing 72 lbs combined per rear wheel ***8211; Max hp: 369 hp, Max Torque: 373 ftlbs
  • HRE wheels: 20"x11.0" with Nitto 315/35-20 tires weighing 60 lbs combined per rear wheel ***8211; Max hp: 380hp, Max Torque: 384 ftlbs
  • 12 lb rotating weight decrease (two rear wheels) yielded 11 WHP gain.
Decrease of 1.1 lbs rotating weight = increase in 1 WHP”

The difference probably won't even be noticeable between the two if you mounted them back to back.

Go with what you think looks cool, it's not a sports car

I went with the E rated for the 10 ply. For all the miles I do on forestry roads with sharp stones, I don’t like traveling them with 6 ply. I keep the pressure to 35 on paved roads and it’s a nice ride. I air down to 25-28 on the forestry roads and it’s just nice and smooth.

I’ve also got plans to pull a trailer, eventually and will carry some weight so knowing that also pushed me to 10 ply as well
