I have done all I can to get a good ride out of this thing. See the signature. At 75+ on the freeway it responds odd to g-out style bumps and is somewhat sharp with street style tree root bumps. Tires are C rated and at 33 PSI. Wondering if adding a few pounds at the tailgate will help the ride. Here in So Cal the freeways are just not smooth or level.

My rubicon rides pretty nice considering it’s a jeep. Maybe you should’ve got a Cadillac?

You need the correct springs and shocks for ride depending on weight. usually, you have a given weight and spring it for the correct spring rate for that vehicle weight, and match the shocks to that.
I swapped out the rear shocks on my JT Overland and put on Eibach shocks and it made it ride harsh! They were too much for the truck.
The stock shocks rode better.

EDIT - looking at the list of mods - looks like it's got a whole heck of a lot of extra weight on it already............ is it really that loaded up with stuff?
Heck, our JLU Rubicon rides nicely.

You are asking a lot of it to have decent highway manners for a rolling brick doing 75+ MPH. I would suggest another vehicle if that is important to you.

My Colorado has rear leaf springs. Adding some weight helps. With the Jeeps rear coils it doesn’t really make a difference. The Jeep rides a lot better, but the Colorado handles considerably better. Very different trucks.

In SFBay the freeways for the most part are decent. On occasion I'll get the slightest bump steer at 75+ when hitting a transition on an overpass.

- 2" MOPAR Lift
- Goodyear DuraTrac F rated tires. Chalk test determined 28psi, cold
- Loaded DECKED drawer system in the bed.
- Terraflex Steering Linkage (Toe in 1/8")
- Terraflex Front and Rear Trackbars
- Fox Thru Shaft Steering Stabilizer
- SteerSmarts Sector Shaft Brace

At the end of the day, it's a truck and on top of that it's also a Jeep.

What JT do you have (year, model) and how long have you had it? What were you driving before? Did you test drive it when you bought it?

It’s a truck….. and will never ride smooth like a fancy SUV or car. Trucks need a certain amount of ‘stiffness’ and ’rigidness’ for towing & hauling purposes.
There are other midsize trucks that ride smoother just due to different design - perhaps you bought the wrong truck?

Yes…adding weight can/will help…probably not enough for your expectations.
Load up the bed with ‘stuff’ or buy a few 50lb sand bags from Lowes and see how it responds. If you’re worried about gas mileage, that extra weight won’t help the gas mileage.

You could literally be chasing your tail trying to find a unicorn…..

You can give it a try. I will say during winter months I toss in a couple sand bags. I can't say I feel a difference though.

I put in 3 70 pound bags of sand for ballast to balance out the snow plow. A bit better ride, but it didn't take out the harshness of the Eibach rear shocks. IMO, it wasn't enough difference to make it worth doing in the summer. Besides, that was over 20% of my payload there!

If you're looking for extra weight have your mother in law ride with you. :)
And it improves gas mileage. Actual conversation in my Jeep...

MIL: You're driving too fast.

ME: I'm not driving too fast.

MIL: Yes you are. Do you know how I know? Have you noticed how you are passing people yet nobody is passing you? Do you know why that is? Because they're all driving normal speeds and you're not. That's how you can tell that you're driving too fast.

ME: [At this point I launch into my lecture explaining how all speed is relative. And how the earth is rotating at 1,000MPH. And that it orbits the sun at 60,000MPH. And the solar system is moving through the galaxy at 600,000MPH. etc]

MIL: Well....that's still too fast.

I use 3 of those heavy weighted rubber things from the bottom of construction safety barrels 😂 works like a charm in the winter
