Get one with a nasty chop.
Wouldn't that freak out the PCM!
With these you could choose custom intake and exhaust grinds and change the LSA on the fly, among other things. Oh fun!

A cam with a "nasty chop" ground in would confuse the PCM, definitely. Plus you would need both cylinder banks to have matching "choppy" camshaft. But if someone really wanted to do the work to develop the program, a special tune could probably be developed to change cam timing at idle to give it a "choppy" idle. For me, though, stock and quiet is fine.

I was just joking anyway. And you’d want a tune to take advantage of it. It would be cool if those with cam failures could replace them with something that gave a nice performance gain.

I don't have to tell you the reason for the "choppy idle" or "lumpy" idle. I wonder how many here would like to have to run up to 2,000 RPM before they had much of any power to take off from a stop.......... I run 2500 stall. A gutless machine at under 2,000 RPM but beyond that all #3%% breaks loose. Very poor machine in town.
It would really suck maneuvering around a trailer in a parking spot, launching a boat, etc. For trails - don't even think about it. You'd need 6:1 gearing LOL

My 4.0, OTOH, I chose a LSA that kept up my low end, kept the PCM happy and I have crazy torque in town. I can be running at 1200-1400 RPM on a grade, 35-40 mph and gain speed with throttle.

Anyway, fun topic even thought I figure the original thought was in jest, just for kicks.

I spoke to Melling technical service this morning and they don't have any passenger intake cams (MC1443) in stock. I didn't understand his comment, but he said that "they use OEM cams and the dealers will get them before they [Melling] do"... so back to the waiting game.

They sell MOPAR cams and don't make their own. Not uncommon for such applications.

Interesting... I thought maybe he meant that they "repurposed" Mopar cams. Well at $275 it's cheaper than the dealer but not as cheap as the online All Mopar folks. Thanks for chiming in :)

Kind of implies they do not make the cams but resell OEM cams as their own.
