Howdy y'all,
I'm awaiting on my new 23 rubi diesel that the dealer told me has been shipped.
I will be wanting to get something to monitor the regens, egt temps, ect.

I would also like to be able to do regens without having to risk going into limp mode if I'm on a trip and somehow have interrupted active regens and now get the dreaded "Max speed will be 5 mph in 100 miles, take to dealer" message.

I know alphaobd will let me initiate regens from the app (I really like this feature), but I don't think alphaobd is meant to have on all the time to monitor egt, regen status, lass times regen happened, ect.

Scanguage 2 or 3 will monitor all those things all the time but I'm not sure it has the ability to initiate a regen (either parked or driving).

I think the banks idash will do the same as scanguage 2 or 3, but again I'm not sure you can initiate a regen with the idash.

For you experienced ecodiesel owners, do you have any input? The last diesel I had was a 2006 dodge 2500 4x4 diesel (pre dpf filters and such).

I may just have to get either the scanguage 2 or 3, or the idash and then have a the alphaobd just for "regens on demand".

Also, if I get the scanguage or idash, I'm guessing I'd have to remove it before any dealer service, is this hard to do or only entails unplugging from the obd port?

Opinions welcome. Thanks, Tim

I have the iDash. Yea it can't do regens. I haven't had to unplug it when I take it in to the dealer. It just plugs into the plug under the dash. I tell them if they have to. Just unplug it and then plug it back in after they are done. I do like the iDash because on how you can set up each screen.

Been thinking on getting the alphaobd if I have to force a regen when traveling.

I believe alpha OBD or any other solution that do writes operations through the OBDII port needs the security gateway bypass cable too so you’d be using a different cable to get access to the can bus anyway and both should be usable at the same time. Since alpha OBD requires a OBDII compatible device they typically can read anything on the can bus and you can display anything on your phone provided it’s mounted somewhere you can see. Just an idea to keep the cost low.

I use the MX+ OBD reader and the app OBDLink for my readings
