I finally got the upTOP Overland Alpha (front half) installed. I only had to cut about two inches off of the two initial grooveTrek pieces. I still need to wire the lights, but otherwise it’s done. I added the 83L Roam case on top which I plan to put lightweight recovery gear that I will rarely access (soft shackles, straps, etc.) to keep weight down. Here are some pics.

I know this is the million dollar question but - How much? Did you pick it up in Castle Rock or have it shipped? I like this and don't live far from them.

Not quite a million, but pricey. $1200. This included rack and two scene lights. I had them ship it (even though I visited Parker, near Castle Rock twice in the last month, I live in SLC). I absolutely love the look and the quality of the rack. The installation instructions left a lot to be desired and it was a lengthy, time consuming install. It has a wacky handle set up with paracord and I would have preferred to just bolt on some handles (which they now sell). So, at this point I'm very happy with it. This is my retirement vehicle, so I'm not trying to get by cheaply, or do a short term upgrade. I'm holding to the "buy once, cry once" philosophy and will admit that I did shed a tear purchasing this one. ;)

For sure. I get it. I want a rack for that spot pretty bad. Them being close is a bonus. Maybe I will just drive down there and talk to them. Thanks for the info. It looks great.

We have heat! Just had the Dickinson fireplace installed by Juniper Overland here in Denver. We will be heading out this weekend to give it a test run.

Quick question…was looking at your tank connections. See the quick connection toward the bottom and then other hose running into the inside for the heater…is there a third hose? Water heater? Interested. As I’m looking to run our lines internally.

You nailed it. I had them run the lines for the water heater at the same time and it should be installed in a couple weeks. The heater and the water are comfort items the wife requested and that I will take full advantage of. The more comfortable she is, the longer we can stay on the road.

Hey question for you all. I didn't end up getting a canopy camper since I can't seem to stick with one vehicle long enough to get something specific to this jeep (though I am loving it for now). I instead got a alucab canopy + tent (and the awning/shower cube) so I could transfer it to any different vehicle.

Does anyone know how to find the right size bolts to attach things to the interior ceiling? It has tracks going horizontally that I'd like to mount a few things to (interior lights, max tracks, etc), but I can't seem to find a place to order the right size bolts. Thanks.

Well, this is the Canopy Camper thread, not the Canopy thread. So can't say for sure that the two have the exact same interior rails. But let's assume the family resemblance is strong...

The interior rails on my Canopy Camper are designed for M8-1.25 thin jam nuts like this: https://www.mcmaster.com/90710A120/

McMaster is a good place to explore what hardware is available out there, and exactly what it's called. May or may not be the best price depending what's in your town, and how deep you dig on discount vendors. And McMaster loves to ship things overnight or next day at fairly high cost. BUT... they're seldom out of stock or lack variety.

Full-depth hex nuts don't fit. And there's probably a SAE option that works (I don't know) but typically Alu-Cab has a lot of M8 and M6 all over, so I figure might as well stick with it.

You will need to pay very close attention to the length of bolts going into those thin nuts, so the nut bottoms out on the inner edge of the rail, rather than digging the point of the bolt into the outer wall of the rail. I use a ton of M8x16 and M8x20, depending on the thickness of the thing I need to bolt down. And quite a few extra washers as spacers when those are a hair too long.

Ahh, I didn't even realize there was a plain canopy thread. My apologies. Thanks for the link and info!

Jumping in here! Got suspension, 37s, & and a blank slate camper installed a couple weeks ago.

Spent 4 months last year living on the road full time in a 2018 JLUR, bed platform inside with an iKamper up top. It shined for what I needed but I always wanted something even more comfortable/purpose-built.

To that end, I'll be doing the interior by hand as much as possible. My 2 main goals are the ability to cook inside out of the elements, and have the ability to sleep with the roof closed by laying diagonally in the Jeep's bed. Useful for "stealth" sleeping, very bad weather, or family I don't want to share a bed with...
