Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Has anyone split the trapdoor into left and right sections? I would like to do a 60/40 split. I figure I could add support blocks to hold the individual doors up and then add small strips of carpet to finish the cut ends. I already have some extra AluCab hinges to use for this.

Early on, I saw someone who did it. Can't remember where though. I am want to get a few more nights in my, then I may remove mine. I am 6'5" and have just enough room to sleep with it open (pillow not he edge).

We use it to put the iPad on when reading or watching a movie so I want to keep at least part of it. Also, I have a gun safe mounted there and I like having it up top when sleeping.

I guess this is one time where my height is something of an advantage, I am 5’-4” and my wife is 5’-6”, so we have plenty of space.

I was thinking, with a Brandmotion rear camera setup, and a redundant factory backup camera, why not install the factory backup camera in the front (for those of us without the stock front camera).
With the tazer i hear you can assign a cruise control button to activate the camera whenever so long as you are not actively using cruise control.
Any ideas on how this won’t work?

I totally forgot to mention that, it is one of the best mods ever. Storage for smelly clothes.
In the first three photos the spring loaded latch was not yet installed.

Topping this up for a question; apologies if I missed the answer somewhere in the thread. How much space is there between the window and bulkhead here? Trying to figure out if I can use that space for a pair of Maxtrax. 4 inches thick for the pair. Seems like the perfect spot for muddy and snow covered traction boards to drain and dry

I have not measured it but there should be enough space for a set of boards, though you would want to secure them so they do not bang around. In your profile you list a Tacoma as your vehicle, that would not have enough space as the gap is much smaller on a Tacoma than on a Gladiator.

Had a question for ya. How hot does the cab get in the sun on a summer day if outside temps are in the 80's or 90's? Curious if the bed or cab is a better place to house a small fridge.

Anything you would have done different for hard mounted items (like fridge, compressor, etc..)?

My compressor is mounted in the bed using one of our large enclosures. I am also using the 12V plugs on the front of it. I have not been out in mine yet during warm weather so I can't say much about the heat yet. My gas cans and such are not inside, this photo was when I first had the camper installed. My fridge with cover will be in the cab

If the truck windows are closed, I think the cab gets hotter than the camper. I have my fridge in the camper.

Yeah I have also looked at your smaller mount and the in cab mount. Where are you putting your house battery?

That's what I thought as well. But the bed isn't super large. Care to share a pic? Just tryin to pre-plan some wiring as best as possible.
