Jeep related but not my Gladiator. My daughter's JK windshield cracked due to a rock chip in May 2022. We went to the Glass Doctor in Ft Collins which has performed well in the past. We have them replace the glass and decided to "upgrade" to Gorilla Glass. Fast forward to April 2024 and she came out one morning to find the Gorilla glass had multiple cracks in very large semi-circles on both sides on the windshield. No other damage or rock hits and you could only feel the crack on the inside of the glass.

We took it to Ft Collins Glass Doctor who said Gorilla glass has a 2 year warranty but you have to go to Ft Collins Jeep since it was purchased from the parts department. Working with the Ft Collins Jeep dealer has been another story. They took pictures and said they would file a claim and get back with us. 3 weeks past and no reply, so we reached back out. At first they indicated they didn't submit a claim because they "knew it would be denied" but they later change the story and said it was denied. They told us to reach out to Jeep Cares. @JeepCares We spoke with them and they said they had no claim or Gorilla glass associated with that VIN. I tried to explain that the VIN wouldn't be on file unless FT Jeep submitted that with the claim since the Gorilla glass was purchase through the part department with no VIN. After that conversation, they directed me back to the dealer with no resolution.

I've called the dealership but no response since Monday.

Defective glass within the 2 year warranty for some weird cracks with no impact, however no one wants to take responsibility.

Kind of wish the FTC would take FCA/Stellantis to task for the whole GG debacle. I think it is a borderline scam.

This is a very different case, IMO - the pattern suggests a definite defect in manufacturing.

as for the rest - there are two things in play:
1. FCA's marketing is a bit contrary to what Corning advertises. FCA is a bit misleading, implying things that aren't true while Corning is clear that it doesn't prevent or stop all breaks or cracks and is "60% effective" which has been shown by Ford and others.
2. Buyers have a false idea - from somewhere, maybe FCA, and don't do their research, but assume, hey, it's like my phone, it won't crack or break!

Defects - that's one thing and should be covered, period.
As for misleading marketing materials - yeah, FCA needs to be told to back off and be more clear about what it does and doesn't do, can and can't do.

Hard to tell buyers to do research, most don't really even understand what they are buying when they buy a car. It's pretty, I want it.

And the sales department doesn't even know what they are selling either.

In my opinion, the scam is in how it is so arbitrary to actually get a warranty replacement. You have a dealership service network that half the time is so inept or uninformed, it is just easier to deny than to error on the side of caution and give the customer some remedy when it is undetermined the cause.

I really think that Jeep needs to either not offer the glass or just make the cost of the GG basically an insurance policy that covers everything regardless X amount of times than leave it up to some dealership nose picker to give yeah or nay.

I agreed. Similar to these led lights manufacturers claiming 50,000 hours on their lights but offers just a 1yr warranty. It is misleading without mentioning that the controller or circuitry can goes out at anytime.

I think in some repects, cracked glass due to road debris is something every jeep owner may have to deal with at some point. That flat windshield certainly seems to deflect less - simple physics I guess.

I am on my third windshield. Found a good local shop that replaces them for $300 out the door for the non-logo verison. Figure I can do 3-4 windshield replacements for the price of one Gorilla Glass one.

My GG cracked within 1 week of the 2 years and got it in the dealer got it all done in about a month. That was my one free one. If you have a GG with a crack that is not too bad just wait till close to the 2 year limit. I was told that a new GG is $1400 now and the 24s with antenna and electronic stuff would be even much more. That's the first one I have ever had break.

The problem is the Ft Collins Jeep Dealer. Since there isn't another in this smaller town and the part was bought from them, I was limited in my options. Sounds like you have a good dealer, that did the right thing.
