https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...stock-sport-sport-s-non-max-tow-wheels.87966/Looking at a Jeep gladiator sport that is already done up with 37s. How bad is it on the stock gears? Any other issues to worry about
I don't see 8th ever and I'm only on KO2 35s....... LOL I'm doing gears before I go bigger.I have been on 37s for a few years on stock 3.73s. Weight is more noticeable than the tire size in my opinion. My truck had 35" BFG KM3s and a lift when I bought it and I didn't notice much difference when I went to 37" BFG K02s (64 lbs), I did notice when I switched to 37" Milestar Patagonia XTs (77 lbs). I can still pull out into traffic without any pucker moments. Maybe I see 8th less on the highway but otherwise it seems fine to me, granted I am the minority here. I also never drove it with stock tires to compare how it was originally.
Lol I luck out on my daily drive, it is fairly flat so as long as the wind cooperates I see 8th on the highway at 65-70 mph, whatever the speed limit is for that stretch of road. Any kind of headwind, forget about itI don't see 8th ever and I'm only on KO2 35s....... LOL I'm doing gears before I go bigger.

Yeah, I really question 37s on 3.73s being as good as that person reported. I only have 34s and I wish I had at least 4.10s.I don't see 8th ever and I'm only on KO2 35s....... LOL I'm doing gears before I go bigger.
I had 37s with 3.73s in a diesel and it wasn’t great. Rarely saw 8th gear on the highway.Yeah, I really question 37s on 3.73s being as good as that person reported. I only have 34s and I wish I had at least 4.10s.
Edit: I saw the response. Makes more sense with only doing 65 and flat ground. I have rolling hills and I do 75-85.
5 speed vs 8 speed alone is a huge difference for the 3.6l.On 4:10s is t bad, there’s only been a few times I wish I had 4:56s or 5:13s but overall I’m pretty happy with mine. I had 37s on 3:73s on my old jkur and that was pretty bad with the old auto.
So weird how these vary , I see 8th alot and I am in 35's. This is a mystery to me.I don't see 8th ever and I'm only on KO2 35s....... LOL I'm doing gears before I go bigger.
Actual tire size, tire weight, vehicle drag due to lift and other modifications, terrain, speed, altitude, and also (I suspect) half truths told by many. Present company excludedSo weird how these vary , I see 8th alot and I am in 35's. This is a mystery to me.
There's a good portion of Jeep owners who never exceed 65mph and mostly cruise around at 55mph or less. Of course they don't see 8th gear. The thing would be nearly at idle if they did. Just like the fuel economy threads. When the 22+mpg guys post pics of their trip computer, the average speed works out to ~45mph when you divide the distance by the time driven. If you drive it like an old YJ, you don't need 8th...or even 7th as the YJ didn't have or need overdrive for the same reason. So weird how these vary , I see 8th alot and I am in 35's. So I'm going to ask the question then. At what speeds should one expect to see 8th gear? I find that my transmission loves to sit in 4th gear. Some days it stays in 4th all the way up to 60 mph. I do see 6th but not a lot. I've done a bunch of trips from PA to TX and back. Speeds in the 70s and 80s. 8th gear does not happen without flipping into manual mode and forcing it.There's a good portion of Jeep owners who never exceed 65mph and mostly cruise around at 55mph or less.
