I’m following up on my own post!

I test drove a 2.0 Two door. The high revving motor along with the 8 speed trans made it a little surgy, but some driver adjustment probably resolves that. I found that the sound wasn’t offensive. But, it’s only available with the automatic trans which adds $2,500. I could live with it, but I’m not willing to pay $2,500 for it. Also, although it gets better mileage, it uses premium gas, so I figure that’s a wash.

Here’s the real bummer.

The Jeep configuration tool that the dealers use will not let them order a Wrangler 2 door Sport S with the Convenience Package and a soft top. You can only get a hard top. This just seems silly to me and may very well be a deal breaker. A move straight out of The Office of Sales Prevention

I’m checking to see if the dual top option is available although that feels like throwing good money after bad.

Thanks for listening…

2.0 in a 2D is a fun engine even on 37's

No question about it, much better than the gladiator
Dang! My Gladiator turns great, I can't imagine how much better the Wrangler is!! I've been driving a Liberty for years, it turns awesome.

Dang how did you manage to do that? We had (gave to our son) a 2005 Liberty and driving that thing would cause my thighs to hurt after half hour drive, believe it was due to seat being slightly shorter then what I was used to. I will say it did turn on a dime.

I’m thinking about buying a Wrangler. Anybody have one?

I’d appreciate any insight on ride, road noise and power.

I’ve read mostly praise for the 2.0 4cyl turbo. Seems like that should be plenty for a small vehicle, but interested in any and all opinions.
The wife has a JL Sport that she's had me lift and fix all up to be pretty bad ass. 2.5" lift, new rims and 35s, BestTop, bumpers, winch, fender flares, etc. I personally like my JT better but most of the zipping around the city we do is done in her JL and it's terrific. Yes it's noisy and bouncy and rides like a Jeep. The little turbo banger is a good little engine. Get one.

I was planning to get a 2 door. I don’t need a lot of cargo space and planned to remove the rear seat anyway.

Will I wish I’d gotten a 4 door?
At times you may regret getting a 2 door but it depends on your intended use. In good weather doors n top off is great along with you can just stuff gear in back "easy" enough though the back tailgate. Experience's from others may differ.... My Wrangler is TJ Unlimited manual transmission.
I took the rear seat out about 20 years ago then sold it at discount.

So the Wrangler turns better than the Gladiator?
It has a shorter wheelbase, so even with the same steering box and front end, the JL 4-door will be more agile and the 2-door will be even more nimble than the 4-door.

While you get a lot of agility, you give up stability to get it. The JT is the most stable on steep hills, followed by the 4 door, and the least stable is the 2-door.

You are the only person on the forums who ever said that.
Really? Weird. Yeah, I just had to whip it around the other day because I forgot something at the house, it was no problem. I was actually worried how well it would turn after driving my Liberty the past 12 years, but the Gladiator does great. Not as good as the Liberty of course but still great.

I've always thought it was comfortable. I have been driving it for 12 years now. Maybe cause I'm not very big.

i was in the same boat few months ago, i started with 2-door Wrangler and then Bronco but ended up getting Bronco Raptor, coz couldn’t pass up $20k off MSRP on it, couldn’t be happier.

I had a Willys Wrangler before I bought the JT. Was a good rig but wasn't too good at towing our trailer.
