Just reporting back to this thread after getting my JT back this week. The dealership pulled off a pretty clean job, but should I be concerned or irritated that my service paperwork says they installed a remanufactured long block? I’d expect a reman if my Jeep was at the tail end of the powertrain warranty, but I only have 7k miles! On the bright side, it’s not knock(on wood)ing anymore.
You are entitled to feel however you want, but the warranty booklet has language that allows them to put in a reman or even a salvage part at their discretion.

I have no qualms with a OEM reman.

I had developed a tick and it turned out to be passenger side rocker arms and lash, also cam shafts. Jeep runs strong now and no tick

That's normal in many cases.
It's not a Jeep or FCA thing. It's an industry thing.

Same issue here. I mentioned the cold start ticking on my 2020 Overland (6/27/19 build date) when at the dealer for oil change this week. Adviser said that’s not normal and can I leave overnight so they can hear it on a cold engine. Next morning was asked when was last oil change (7500 miles ago synthetic) as they are not hearing the ticking after changing oil. Took it home, listened the next morning and sure enough it sounds good. When I checked oil level it is definitely overfilled….well above the XXX on dipstick and about 3/16” onto the dipstick cable above the dipstick “weight”. My questions are 1) would the high oil level cover up the cold start ticking and 2) should I worry about the high oil level (no foaming noticed yet) and have the dealer correct it? Lease is up in 2 months and I’m really trying to keep it but there is always something….steering box, rear windshield and dual battery ASS system already replaced under warranty.

No the oil level has no effect on sounds (unless it's ungodly high!)
1 quart doesn't damage these engines. many have run around for likely hundreds if not thousands of miles not knowing the difference. I wonder how many Gladiator owners have their oil changed and then run home and check the level? Only many forum members is my bet.

OIL age, viscosity and more have a huge effect on valve train sounds. I have a bit from another source in the house (no access to my server from the shop) that explains how oil viscosity changes, and how it "quiets engines" if the oil has thinned a lot, or if running too light an oil to begin with.

Anywho, the oil level isn't what changed the sound, the oil cleanliness and quality changed the sound.

I did have the dealer correct it the very first time they did an oil change on a JT happened to be mine. One time - never had that problem again with that shop. Not only did they resolve the too much oil, they immediately apologized, asked if I could stay around 30 minutes and they ran it right in and did a full oil/filer change again.

Thanks Papa. Mixed info out there on the oil overfill and how big of an issue this really was so your input is greatly appreciated.

This dealer has changed the oil 3 times before and no issues...just this time it's high and the noise change made me wonder. I'm going to let the dealer know about the overfill but won't sweat it too much now.

The ticking sound is gone so could very well be old oil quality related. Fingers crossed......if issue continues, drivetrain is still under warranty for a couple more years :)

So what's the actual TSB listing, since I want evidence in hand when I go back for this one. Mine taps like a trapped miner, 2020, 21900 on the clock. )Contemplates drinking early and which MaxCare to buy.....7yr/UNL or 8yr/125K)

Mine recently developed ticking at 51k miles. Been in the dealership for over a week. Was “collapsed rockers”, bad lifters and cam(s) according to the service rep. Unsure what exactly was replaced, but will find out tomorrow when I pick it up. Glad it happened before the powertrain warranty ran out. Now don’t know if I can trust it since not all rockers/lifters/cams failed and weren’t all replaced.
