I haven’t noticed this until today at work and snapped a quick picture. Luckily I am taking it in for my third free oil change/rotation tomorrow so I’m gonna make them look at this too. This is the passenger side of the bed toward the tail gate, drivers side in the same spot had dirt stuck in it so I’ll check it out later.

Obviously it’s not a gigantic hole so I’m not too worried about it, but I’m leasing so if this is related to a larger problem I need to catch it now. You know, before I turn it in for a 2022 JT Mojave 392:CWL:

Makes me wonder if it has something to do with why it appears like my rear bumper is sagging. That’s something I’m okay with worrying about.

My bed is the same way. Can't say I've noticed the bumper tho

Its harder to tell with the bed liner, but If you notice the gaps are all at seams where different pieces meet. Not that. I think it should be that way but I'd say it's nothing to worry about

The bed shouldn't affect the rear bumper that way. I would check the rear bumper connection, etc.

My bed is the same way. No bedliner here, which may cover up that hole for some

Interesting. The small hole through the bed isn’t a big deal now, but I’m concerned about long term here after sand, snow, mud, etc. if it’s an unfinished surface with a hole in it, then it may be problematic (in an absolute worst case scenario). I was more curious if anyone else had the hole than anything.

For the bumper it seems like the issue only affects the Sport crowd, Rubicons don’t seem to have the issue. There’s a few threads about it on this forum.

It might just be a drain hole.
That doesn’t seem likely, the hole is a few cm in diameter at best. Plus, I’d think if it were a drain hole it’d probably have a matching hole in the same exact spot on the other side of the bed.

Mine is the same way. If you look at the bed, the weld seam goes from the back to front and up the sides. I bet they stamped the bed flat, folded it up to shape, and then welded it. However, I’m not a metal guru, but that’s just what I think may be the case.:like:

Right? It’s annoying as heck.

I went to the dealer on Friday to get my oil changed and tires rotated. While I was walking around I looked in the beds of a few other JTs on the lot and it seems like most of them have the little holes. Also noting that most Sports and Overland models seem to have downward slanting rear bumpers; Rubicons don’t seem to be affected by this.

I don’t mind the bed hole as much as I do the rear bumper. I will eventually have a simple bumper fabbed up, but for now I’ll just try as hard as I can to not look at it

After seeing these pics I'd be less concerned with the gap itself, and more concerned with those long seams that allow rocks to collect and rub their way through the liner to the paint and promote rust. I'd fill those the whole way with a thick bead of silicone and forget about it.

The rear bumper is purposely set parallel to the ground, but because the truck has a rear to front downward rake, it looks uneven. It is the way it is supposed to be. If you want to verify, throw a small level on the bumper and you will see it is centered correctly. However, put the level on the bed rail, and you will see the downward slope.

My bumper looks the same as this one pictured, slanting down slightly.

Off topic note, I LOVE this black accent! Is this just a vinyl or did you have yours sprayed?
