I’ve seen a couple people using Teyes radios in their JL/JTs. I like the android platform and AppStore, but I’m curious what makes the Insane audio $1000 more. And if it’s worth it?

Thanks!

Were you able to keep the OEM backup camera, and does it look pretty good? (Some if the alpine reviews say it seems degraded) Does it maintain the active gridlines?

Also, is there a method to program the AUX switches?
Here is a backup camera shot:

I am not familiar with the Teyes...what sold me on the insane is all the custom features and it was designed for the Jeep with being somewhat water resistant/proof. The company has been top notch for anything I needed help with...I chose this over the alpine due to price but like I said, no experience with the Teyes. I would buy the insane over again if I had too.

:( Audio JL3001 - Android Auto does not always load. Not sure if it is my Samsung Galaxy 10 or Android Auto interface (zLink).
Definitely would recommend for any :jk: JL or JT owner!

You shouldn't even have a need to use Android auto with this unit.

I also would absolutely recommended it!

Also to update, they have in fact fixed my Bluetooth connection issue with a software patch.

I saw it on Quadratec and was interested but I think will wait for maybe future version of it that might not have to go through so much hotspot data to work. Would prefer it to have some sort of XM without having to go through an app and data to get service.

I can pretty assuredly say, based on conversations I've had with IA, there will never be a satellite tuner available. It will always be app based.

On the same note, this is basically a tablet, so you will always need some form of data connection (phone hotspot or dedicated wifi connection) for most any app to work.

And this is the case with any unit that does Android auto or car play, everything is, or is becoming, web/data based.

Have you had a chance to possibly see about how much data it uses up. I'm not a huge phone person so I don't have a unlimited plan so perhaps this would not work for me since the unlimited hotspot data isn't there.

Last month my hotspot(Wich is basically all on the car) used 3gb. (My total was close to 30gb, but I'm on my phone probably 3x as much right now since I'm not working much, thanks COVID-19)

I would say that with everything being normal(working full time) I use a total of 10-12gb with less than 2g being hotspot

It would not make sense to not have unlimited data with this or any other unit that uses AA/CARPLAY... I honestly didnt know non unlimited plans still existed

Haha well I have had mine so long perhaps I am grandfathered in but mine is only 9GB. As I mentioned though I try to avoid the phone as much as possible. I only use Carplay for Waze so everything else I do is through the OEM functions. I just happened to look at this and thought it was a nice upgrade. Perhaps will give it more thought down the line if I feel I need more options than the current setup I have.
