I wonder if the snorkel will help with my derating issue during the August heat while towing my boat? Will it get any cooler air up there? Will that make a difference? Probably not, I know, but I can hope, right?

Well intake air and air flow through your radiator are two different things.
I don't think this will help in your scenario

Looks like the snorkel will only be available for you guys who have the "high flares" and not us Sports S guys with lower flares.

https://www.aev-conversions.com/product/jl-gladiator-snorkel/
So AEV said that it will work with us who have the low flares, there will just be a gap between the fender and snorkel. It will look better on a high flare, but I like my painted fenders so I have no plans on swapping them. Unless one of you has firecracker high flares that you want to donate to me :)

It is so sad that AEV forgot about Europe:-(
In Europe JT is only available with EcoDiesel with Mojave hood.
This is so terrible…

So it won't affect any mounting or anything? Safe to order ?

One of their guys chimed in on the facebook post and said this... So I would say its ok to order if you are ok with gap.

My snorkel is stuck in Iowa with a blizzard between me and it. But don't worry, it is still scheduled to be delivered yesterday

I got my snorkel yesterday afternoon after ordering on Tuesday, delivered Thursday to NC.

Doubt I get it installed for a week or so. I’m also going to look at fabbing a bracket that allows me to mount the upper portion without having to drill into the outside window frame. We’ll see.

If people are really interested, I can characterize the system impedance (pressure loss) vs CFM to determine the effect of stock intake vs snorkel 4" filter vs snorkel 5" filter. I would need to borrow somebody's intake and snorkel for a weekend to mock the system to the flow chamber, assemble, and test. The testing is straight forward but the time consuming part is mocking up and sealing the system.

Realistically the test could be performed with just the snorkel and filters but having the intake + snorkel would be more comprehensive.

My snorkel is still in Iowa. Maybe it was flying Southwest.
Every single time that I've flown Southwest, my baggage was left or lost somewhere. Every. Single. Time.

My middle son and his wife flew in from Denver last week for Christmas. Supposed to fly back last Sunday. South West cancelled. They cancelled yesterday. They already cancelled today. So hopefully they fly out tomorrow on Delta.

Well-- AEV IS an American Company!!! Lol. Seems like the U.S. is a "logical" place to start!
