They don’t really help. I use them due to tire coverage laws so they suit my needs. You just really need mud flaps if the goal is to keep stuff off the side.
thanks - that was the only reason I was considering them. I live off of a dirt / rock road and my paint is getting nicked up more than I am willing to accept. Not to mention getting mud on my passengers when the doors are off haha

Anyone take these off after installing them? I put the fronts on my sport s and I do not like them. It may be because I don’t have high line fenders or a lift. But it just looks like too much going on. May be the the mud flaps too. I’m more than likely going to have to keep them on because the edge of the fender is going to have a few extra holes now. Doesn’t seem like an easy piece to replace.

Put some plastic rivets in the holes. No one will notice.

We have the same wheels!! I just put my flares on the front today. You running the -12 offset and are those the stock size 285/70's? They look great!

Just put on the fronts today...getting too cold to put on the rears. I'm happy with them and living in NH where they actually check to make sure the tire tread is covered by a "fender" this brings me back into spec.

No, 35" Goodyear DuraTracs and I think the wheels are +1 offset?

I thought they looked a little wide for 285's...I had 35x12.5's on for one month and with the -12 offset they poked way too far out...I would have never passed state inspection. Yours look perfect.

If you take them off I would just fill those holes with the nylon rivets or Christmas tree clips. I think they look great. They look exactly like mine XD

In preparation to going with larger tires in the near future and being somewhat obsessive about keeping crap off the sides of my Mojave, I installed the Weathertech mud flaps and the Xtreme Recon fender extensions kit (RF, LF, RR and LR) .
The front install of the extensions is straight forward using mostly existing holes for the new plastic rivets. I decided to slip the bottom of the extension between the fender and the mud flap and used the top most screw on the mud flap to hold the extension, the mud flap and the fender together.
The rear installation is somewhat more involved since the holes on the fender edge don't coincide with those on the extensions so I aligned the curved angle on the extension with the fender, removed the uppermost bolt from the mud flap and slid the extension between the fender and the mud flap. Reattached the bolt through all three (which required a new hole in the extension guided by the already existing one at the top of the mud flap), and then drilled 1/4" holes through the fender edge black plastic trim guided by the holes in the extensions. Installed new plastic rivets in all the holes

The installation is very solid but the look is a bit busy. Doesn't bother me enough to remove either the extensions or the flaps since I'm sure the side of the truck will be kept much cleaner now, and once you step a few feet away you can barely tell anything was done.
Someone here was considering this "combo" and was wandering how it would look so I've included some pics.

I ordered from BAM and got two front rights. Replacement sent fairly quickly (after several chats and email). Actually worked out bc I only had to order one more front to put them on the rear. Going to be my weekend project to get the rears done.

Updated:
Got off a little early today and knocked out the rears when it was cooling off. Been over 100* here all week. Overall I like the fronts on the rear. Will see if it makes any difference next time out.

  • I put the flare on holding it in with the second hole from the bottom the flare and in the first rivet on the JT.
  • Marked the end with tape then set it against the front flare to match the angle and adjusted the tape. Cut off the end and that first hole on the flare.
  • Once cut worked my way up from the bottom.
  • Guessing you could do it with out the splice cut, but would be a challenge - thanks @RCKLNDR
  • The inner fender is a pain. It wants to push away when you drill the new holes. Toward the back you can hold it with your hand, have to get creative as you get to the middle and end.
  • Had to redo a couple rivets to get it secured.

I’ve had the spats on for a couple months now but also considering adding the xl rokblokz as well before winter, any difficulty installing both together? Assume they use different holes to attach to?

Rokblokz attach to the bottom part over the fender liner, nothing around the outside edge.

@Toyfrog beat me to it. Different mounts. Love the rokblokz. They block most of the mud. Still have my extensions on. They grow on you and are a nice touch but probably not necessary unless you have local laws that require coverage. You can see here nothing helped my sarge green JT on this trip ?

Ok that’s what I thought but wanted to check and be sure before spending that much on mud flaps… From everything I read on here they are worth the cost though, gonna get some ordered, thanks!
