Was for me, YMMV.This isn't true. I've been running Rubicon-size 33's (285/70R17) on my 3.73's for four or five years now. It'll drop into 8th at 52mph running around town, and it'll settle into 8th with the cruise set at 75mph no problem.
Thanks! It’s the Metalcloak 2.5” Gamechanger with the Fox 2.0 shocks and the only extra thing I added was the rear track bar relocation bracket. It performs and rides really well, I’m really happy with it.Cams69 looking good. What are the details of your lift?
Thanks looking like I'm heading that way soon. Thanks! It’s the Metalcloak 2.5” Gamechanger with the Fox 2.0 shocks and the only extra thing I added was the rear track bar relocation bracket. It performs and rides really well, I’m really happy with it.
Pics? They say 1000 words.I think 35 inch tires and a 2 inch lift are perfect for this truck. I have the mopar lift and the Mickey Thompson baja boss tires in the skinny size 255/85R17. I have the 4:10 gears and after a trip going over mountains I need to regear. On long interstate hill climbs the transmission kept hunting for the right gear and would get as high as 4000 rpm trying to maintain 70mph.
C'mon man, you have a diesel with 2x the TQ at cruising speeds of the 3.6 gasser.I say 37s and 3.73s all day everyday. Because I didn’t buy the wrong engine.![]()
It’s really unfortunate that this will likely be my last Jeep for awhile, because once you go diesel there’s no going back to gas. At least you got the manual going for yaPics? They say 1000 words.

You're not wrong about the engine, I've been debating on a 2nd JT with the diesel for work and making my current JTW a sport truck since it's a manual.

Spent $1250 on my wife’s 37s and 1600 on my 37s and that’s five tires each. Just gotta know where to shop my friend and unfortunately living at the North Pole is not helping you out up thereNow, if we could only buy a full set of tires and not have to spend nearly $2K on quality.
I find this interesting because I don't think the tire size is the issue, a 255/85R17 tire is a 34.7" tire according to my tire size calculator which should be in the sweet spot for 4:10. The weekend after I put on my 35s (which are more like 34.5") I put on over 1700 miles through Southern Utah, Colorado and ended up at over 10,000 in Montana. Most of this trip was either uphill or downhill and my Jeep didn't do any "gear hunting" on the steep highway climbs, just a steady roll at appropriate gears and there was no 4,000 rpms at 70 happening. What type of MT Baja do you run? Are they ATs or MTs.I think 35 inch tires and a 2 inch lift are perfect for this truck.
