Yeah, so they were definitely quoting the CX HD roof capacity then. 500 pounds would be about right, considering most (non-reinforced) fiberglass shells can support around 150 pounds or so. At the claimed triple weight capacity when going from Classic-HD, according to the link you posted, if the CX Classic really did support 500 pounds, that means they'd expect the CX HD to support 1,500 pounds, which is clearly not going to happen.

With that being said, the CX HD is at the top of my list as far as camper solutions so far. A.R.E. makes great stuff. Hopefully the Classic is received well and they can expedite the R&D for the HD.

Looks good with the window. I'm starting to think this is the direction I'll be going, too, since the other manufacturers aren't showing any progress and it looks like this is going to be our only choice from ARE. Just need to option it out and find a local dealer.

Looks good! I can't wait to see one painted and mounted. I just pray that it follows the lines of the vehicle.

Again, personally, I will only go this direction if they offer the CX HD, since a CX Classic isn't enough to support the loads that I will be putting on the roof. I hope it works out! Looking forward to seeing more developments.

Looks good with the windows and it's starting to grow on me. I'll only be interested if I can track the top and carry a usable load - nothing crazy, a couple of kayaks, safari rack for camp gear, and the dirty stuff I don't want inside.

It should suffice for that. On all other models, if I recall correctly, the CX is good for 150 pounds evenly distributed up top. I imagine the JT one will be the same.

This looks great, unfortunately I need to have a RTT up on the top so I don't think this one will work for me. Do we know a timeline for the CX HD or know if they even plan on making one of those for the JT?

Here is a brief email exchange that I had with A.R.E. back in the second week of January:

Me - "Hello ARE. I want to inquire about a camper shell for a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Do you have one in the works? If so, are there any pictures or an ETA available? I would love a CX HD version with a reinforced skeleton, so that I can carry rooftop loads. Also, an option for paint matching the OEM black Jeep hardtop would be great! Please advise on whether or not that will be available! Thanks for your time!"

A.R.E. - "We are currently working on the CX Classic mold for the Jeep Gladiator. The CX HD mold is on the radar but no exact eta yet.

We are happy to take pre-orders for either of these models for when the molds are released. If interested, please contact any one of our Authorized A.R.E. Dealers.

So, not a whole lot of information, but at least the CX HD is a consideration. If I were a betting man, I'd say that it's already in the works. The CX Classic and the CX HD are identical on the outside, so the mold should be essentially the same. All they'd need to do is work on the internal reinforcement.

I ordered my Black CX yesterday. ETA is end of FEB. I will post pics as soon as its in! $1689 installed, body color. Standard 5 window/ sliders, rear T- handle.

I was informed today I was assigned the FIRST gladiator bed cap serial number. It is shipping second week of March. They have 21 orders so far.

Have you gotten confirmation that they're actually making the HD? Last I asked (mid Jan), they said it wasn't currently in the works, but that it was on their radar.

I’m in NW Arkansas and contacted the local ARE dealer. Wasn’t much help.
Please keep us posted on your progress. I will tow my Gladiator behind our coach so I’m just looking for a top that could support some supplies or bikes.
I’d like frameless windows and a electric locking rear lift window. hoping to get these options. I can’t help but wonder if a good custom shop could take the Wrangler hardtop and modify it to go on the bed of the Gladiator.
