When I look at this photo all I can think about is where do I need to make my cuts and how do I attach the two caps together as one.

I think that you are going to get a lot of feedback from the community that the back needs to be more squared to match better with the factory hardtop. Possible?

If you're referring to the slope in the back of the ARE, I prefer it over the square look. Compliments the windshield slope.

I ordered my Black CX yesterday. ETA is end of FEB. I will post pics as soon as its in! $1689 installed, body color. Standard 5 window/ sliders, rear T- handle.

I figured that to be the price for one without options. Not bad! Do you have an itemized list of the cost? Curious how much more body colored finish, windows, etc. are.

I was quoted $1,689 for color matched no options when I called a local rep. This was just over the phone.

Are windows considered an option? With my effectively zero knowledge, I was expecting somewhere around $1600-$1700 for a black top without any windows. Similar to the pictures we've seen floating around. I'd actually prefer a black one to match my hardtop, but would like windows. Curious how much cheaper that option is than the color matched variant.

I see for the Colorado that they offer various types of racks and cross bars (including Thule or Yakima). I'd be interested in the load, too. Roof top tent capable?

I asked our local rep about RTT's and she said that the CX shell had a 500# limit, so not really enough for 2 people plus the weight of the tent and rack. Not sure if that's just the CX or A.R.E. has other tops that are more suited for RTTs?? and from the posts on this thread, not sure they'll expand the Gladiator line?

Snug Top said the same thing about weight ratings and they're still waiting to see if there is enough interest from the Gladiator community.

Seems like a pretty good rating if companies like RLD utilizing stainless construction are claiming a 700 lb limit.

that 700 is dynamic for the RLD, not sure if the 500 is dynamic or static for the ARE

I'm about 98% sure that that roof load is for the CX HD, not the CX Classic. Also, that would be the static load, not dynamic. The CX HD looks nearly identical from the outside, but has a reinforced internal skeleton. When I checked with A.R.E. a few weeks back, they said that they intend on releasing the CX HD for the Gladiator, but had no timeframe for it.

Also, for what it's worth, I ran the Leer version of the CX HD, the 100RCC (which is rated at the same weight capacities), for several years with a 200 pound RTT, and myself at 215 pounds, sometimes with a second person, and never had structural issues. With a good mounting system/rack, I'd fully trust the CX HD to support a RTT plus two people without issue.
