Had to notch out a small piece of plastic for the sights to clear. Takes about a half second to push down on the frame and chamber a round before drawing the weapon from the mount ready for action. The only hindrance is remembering its there when exiting the vehicle as my right leg bumps the gun on exit if I’m not paying attention . I’m 6’2” so may not be a problem for shorter legs. Great mount and gun specific. Perfect for CCW size guns IMO.

I have similar but different one. It's a magnetic mount. I put it below where your brake controller is, it's out of the way but easy to grab when needed.

The mount in the OP appears to hold the gun pointed at your legs or feet. This is no bueno. If you point your gun at any part of your body in any match I’ve ever shot or run you’ll be disqualified.

Put it in a holster on your hip. I’m 6’3” 225lbs and carry very comfortably in a JT in a leather pancake on my belt. I want it on my person when I’m entering or exiting the vehicle and don’t want to be holstering and unholstering a hot gun any more than necessary.

My dad always carried a .38 in his truck. Personally, I’ll just use my 5,300lbs box-on-wheels if you approach my truck while my son is with me. I better see both hands…

I keep it concealed on me when I am in the vehicle. If I can't bring it in I have a secured lockbox in the Jeep. I wasn't comfortable with anything else. Being a CCW instructor and train in defensive weapons, it is a no go to not have something on me.

My theory is if I'm in fear for my life I'm not going to be rolling the window down, it's one more barrier between me and the threat.
If I need to I'll put a round through the glass.
Absolutely, did a lot of training like that before I retired. Driving while shooting through the windshield is a hoot., you ears will ring for a bit though.

I think there's a real missed opportunity that no one makes an AR platform mount for the tops of, or in lieu of, the "freedom" panels.

Dunno about a replacement but QuickFists can be used for all sorts of interesting functions.

This is how I carry mine. When I climb in. I take it out of my hip holster and put it there. When I climb out. It goes back into my hip holster.

Anyone here ever get shot? Well........I have a bullet hole in my back. And 4 kidney surgeries to fix the damage............and you wonder why I carry..........
