That’s UHMW plastic. The skids came with it, but the engine/tranny skid has two pieces split at the bend under the exhaust crossover. I thought it would be stronger with a single piece, so cut it out, heated it on the line and bent it over the bend. Smoother too. I think it was worth the effort, but we’ll find out when I smack it a few times.

I unbelievably googled “UHMW near me” and found a plastics supplier in Denver that sells wholesale, but also directly to anyone. I bought a big 3x5x3/8 sheet for I think $80. Now that I learned how to and how not to cut it amd sand it, I need to go get a new piece for the t-case skid, and the fad skid. It’s great stuff.

Gentlemen it is my pleasure to report that hitting the ole switcharoo with the transmission has resolved all of my issues and it was indeed just as plug and play as everyone made it sound.

Question for ypu @arosen1997 did you notice where the bell housing on the transmission bolts to the block that there is a casting difference ?
do you or anyone have any idea wether this is going to be a problem ? Such as water or dust intrusion?
Also wanted to report that I have gained about 1 mile per gallon and Jeep is running cooler also . Probably not working as hard.how about you ?

It shouldn't be a water and dust intrusion issue. It's sealed from the actual interior of the bell housing.
Also I haven't really been driving my normal because of some work stuff going on, but everything feels like it's got more pep in its step so probably.

Wow okay thats great to know .. I had dealer put it in so it flipped me out a little bit.
Yes mine is holding higher gears. The frigging motor is running cooler. Think cause it isnt wotking as hard . Mileage went from 17.2 or 3 to 18.3-18.5
I mileaged it 2 times to confirm it .

That doesn't look like anything has been snug up against this area (between the bolts)
The area by the bolts is clean - but this area is dirty, been uncovered.

@ShadowsPapa did you see my pic ? What they heck are those for ? @arosen1997 says they are sealed so no worries now but why is it even there . Makes it look like a mismatch in the casting ?

It likely is made to go behind multiple engines (some have a plate between the engine and transmissions to account for that sort of thing)
I know he says "sealed" but the discoloration, dirt, there, indicates that it's not actually been tight against something.
Where the bright, clean silver look of aluminum is, that's been tight against something, where there's dirt, there's likely a gap.
