If I disconnect the ground connection, and connect the cables to the charger, then I am charging the Aux battery, correct?

Connect the positive lead from the charger to the positive terminal of the main battery (leaving that cable in place)

Remove the two black cables from the IBS that is on the negative main battery terminal.
Take the two ground cables apart.
For your 2023 you need to connect the negative of the battery charger to the cable with the large end on it.

Arrow points to the ibs - leave it alone.
Take the cables off the top of the IBS.
Take the two cables apart.
Connect to the cable marked 2021+ as it goes to the aux battery ground terminal.

I am looking at the battery voltage on the aux battery it is 12.7v vs main being like 13.xv. My JTRD has 1300 miles. It doesn't get drivem much.

Have developed a few weird symptoms, non start issue today, triggered DTC on fuel level and transmission code, and no Trail cam and no Parkview guidelines.

Decided to charge up the batteries on a legit charger and see disconnecting battery would help with this.

BTW what is IBS?

Intelligent Battery Sensor. It monitors the flow in and out of the main battery. The 'Smart' charging system uses information provided by the IBS to assist in decision making.

I thought charging the main battery also charges the auxiliary battery? If so, there's no need to disconnect anything. Put on the charger/maintainer/duslfator and walk away. That's what I do once every two weeks.

That's correct. It does assume that both batteries are in good health and that they simply need to be charged, perhaps after a long sit.
If the batteries are showing signs of not holding a charge, say on a daily driver that's otherwise been fine for months or years, then you may want to separate them and charge and test them independently.

@Lunentucker
Thank you! This helps a lot!

@biodiesel I do not like charging two batteries in different capacities in parallel with circuitaries hooked up in between.

You know your Jeep does it that way every time your drive it, right?

Yes I know. But my dumb battery charger doesn't know that.

I am also willing to speculate that is one of the reasons why Jeeps have so much issues with Aux batteries..

I remember when VWs had the battery under the rear seat cushion. If you didn’t put that little plastic thing that looked like a toy table over the top of the positive post on the battery if a fat guy sat in the seat the coils in the cushion would short and catch fire. It was great fun!

As I am learning about Jeep aux batteries online, I found this video.

Mind boggling and this makes me wonder if the engineers forgot to update the schematic or the harness maker made a mistake.

I just went outside and took this photo. This is the charger/maintainer/desulfator that I use. I put it on the main battery once every two weeks and charge the entire system for 24 - 48 hours.
