I just got back from 6 weeks in the hospitals (heart attack) and after driving a couple of days my Aux - Stop Start Warning light came back!
I just replaced the aux battery less than 100 miles ago!

I had stopped it on the dash button but that never triggered the warning light before.
Anyone had this happen before?

How is the main battery?
Did you fully charge the auxiliary battery AND the main battery before installing the aux battery?
If they were very uneven in state of charge, it's possible to have blown a fuse (or cause other issues) - but in any case, when replacing only one battery, make sure to charge both, and when replacing any battery - always charge the new one anyway, even if replacing both.
Can you be sure the main battery is good, has it been checked, tested?

My brother gifted it to me before he died so I have not had it very long. 2021 with 54K on it.
I had changed the battery with a new one before I knew about the Aux Battery so they were changed almost at the same time.
With my recent Heart Attack I cannot be wrenching around on it like I did with other vehicles.
I am thinking about just doing the battery cable delete solution 😒 just to be done with it.
Thanks for the reply!

Deleting the aux will do nothing if the main has gone weak. That light does not mean "aux battery problem", it means "problem somewhere in the system".

Since the truck sat for a long period of time, if it wasn't on a tender, my first piece of advice would be that the batteries need to be tested...both of them. Go from there.

OK. I'll put a charger on it see if that helps.
The warning light went off but it still shows the "Auto stop start unavailable" in my settings menu.
Alternator is charging.

You need to charge and test each battery separately.
The cable delete is still a good idea, then you can just charge and test to main.

Yes, I encourage you to delete the Aux batt. Nothing but a headache to have it. If you don't want to have to fuss around with it in the future and always be wondering about the charge or failure of two batteries-make it so.

I deleted, attached the aux batt cables to the main terminals and was done with it. I did not pull fuses, fuss with hood switches or anything else. Bought the Auto StopStart Eliminator that remembers my stop start OFF selection even when I disconnect the main battery for 5 months. Been fine ever since 2023. A big improvement to my Glad.

Odd, we've had that system in at least 5 vehicle, never saw it as a headache. But then I know my way around electrical systems, operation, testing and so on.
Have not had any real problems other than needing to keep a BatteryMinder on it when I don't drive it often enough.
You can have all sorts of things cause the ESS to not function, and none of them are necessarily a fault of the system, but most are indications you have OTHER problems.
It's like the human body - the problem isn't the pain itself - the pain is indicating you have some problems elsewhere that need to be addressed.
So ignoring that light and deciding just to get rid of the system can mean you are living with a problem that should be addresses, but now you are basically putting a piece of tape over the light so you don't have to look at it, rather than fixing the underlying issues.

But with Jeep people, it's like the old AMCers used to do when the alternator light glowed - they literally did put tape over it or took out the bulb.
Got rid of the symptom, but not the real problem.

Alternator is charging.
You mean you are reading a voltage that you believe means it's actually charging.
Alternator is putting out something, but doesn't mean things are working as designed.
If things were working perfectly, you'd be seeing voltages of around 13.0 volts, give or take. On long drives when the battery/batteries are absolutely fully charged, you may see 12.6 or 12.7 volts.
But if you always see voltages over 14 - ALWAYS over 14 to 14.5 - then you may have some issues.
That's not normal.

For the time being, since you have been laid up with your heart condition, just put a charger on the main battery, negative above the IBC sensor, and let it charge when ever you are not using it. Purchased my JT in 2019, I am on the original battery with 57k miles with it on the charger whenever it sits for more than a day at a time. I drive it every weekend and it sits all week.

My originals didn't make it 3yrs. And I was driving 160-200miles a day back then now I do 140miles and still about ready to replace the Aux
