Today I started my diesel gladiator with tow package and I got a auxiliary switch disconnect message. I checked my voltage gauge and it was at 13.8. it remained at such for a mile driving while pulling a trailer loaded with my ATV up grade . Going down grade it went to 14.0 and remained until I arrived home approximately 20 miles away. Temps have been 35-60 degrees. Is it time for a battery replacement?

They could use a charge. If they are near three years old, it is probably time to look at replacement.

Thanks I was thinking 14-14 v was a good change for a battery.

When it’s running, you’re seeing what the alternator is putting out. If you shut it off and put it on run, I’d expect to see it lower. Keep in mind it’s not clear which battery is low, if it’s not both after 3 years. You can isolate them and test separately, but after 3 years I just replaced both. No issues since. I’ve had the replacements since early 2023 I think. Optima yellow top for the main, die hard aux 14 for the aux. both from advanced auto.

Has anyone had them replaced with the factory warranty? Is it a pain or something easy to get dealership to do? Thanks WILDHOBO

If the Jeep is 3 years old, the batteries won’t be covered. And the dealer is likely to jack up your Jeep.

I upgraded to yellow top because I have lots of accessories, and the hybrid cranking/deep cycle does better with more discharge. I’ve had fantastic luck with them in cars and boats over the years.

You said "disconnect" - don't you REALLY mean "aux switches not available"?

Doesn't matter what your RUNNING voltage is. It's checked at startup and if it's under about 12.2, it will start to disable things until the battery voltage is up.
And the dash is displaying charging system, not battery voltage, as you drive.

Your batteries are low - like the others said.

That's the alternator output, not the battery voltage. And if it STAYS there, then it's sensing the batteries have an issue. It should actually vary from 15.0 when cold out to 12.7 when things are totally charged, and somewhere between 13.0 to about 14 as you drive with fully charged batteries.

15 I’ve never seen, but otherwise yep. Exactly. 14.4 is I think the max I’ve seen on the JT.

Yes auxiliary switch not available. 13.8 at start up, I haven't checked with just run mode. 13.8 - 14 while running.

I've seen 15.0 on my 2022 quite a bit when it was cold out.

My wife's JLU disabled the aux switches when her 12v battery was 12.2 or less.

It’s three years old. I wouldn’t overthink it. This is your early warning that your batteries are about to fail. Just replace them both and everything will be grand.

Don't use the run mode to check voltage - that's checking the batteries with a load on them.
Use a volt meter at the battery posts.

On the other hand - you can either try a recharge of each separately and resetting the IBS or just replacing the batteries (charging the new batteries before installing)
If yours are low because you don't drive it enough, then the new ones won't last long either.
My 2022 batteries were just fine when I traded it in earlier this year.
