I'm looking for the best place to relocate control Box for the badlands Apex winch.
I would rather not relocate it, but it will not fit without trimming the grille.

There is a guy selling 1/4” and 3/8” spacers that move your winch out away from grill, they go right on the flange on front of frame. He has a post in marketplace…..Jack

Trimming the grill? Wow.
Are you saying that top box won't fit, or the CABLE won't clear???
You can re-route the cable out the passenger end of that top box - several here have done that.
If the winch isn't clearing - what plate are you using? Never heard of the winch control box itselt not clearing.

Mine fit. I did tweak the wire routing a bit, and I did put washers in to space the winch plate out about 1/8" - but -
I could have used the member-made plates to space it out but I don't think he was making them when I did my winch.
You can buy his spacer plates in 1/4 or 3/8" thickness. They come unpainted and un-powdercoated but that's fine - I'll powder coat mine.

You can route the power cable out the right end of the top cover, or do like I did............

The Apex does not fit well inside the motobuilt crusher series bumper. I had to modify the mounting plate about an 8th of an inch for the winch to mount up.

That is tight! @ShadowsPapa is right, spacer plate would resolve the grill clearance. I had a little more space with mine and just went out the side. May still use a plate anyway.

I don't know if your winch plate is part of the bumper because I know nothing about that bumper.

But if the plate and bumper are all together, you can add spacers ( 1" or 1-1/2") between bumper and frame horns and the bolts would go through them. Use 3/4" steel pipe for spacers. That will move everything forward away from the grill.

Unfortunately spacers are not gonna be an option for me. The bumpers bolts are welded to it and they are not long enough to pass through any kind of spacer.

I am currently working on this exact same thing. My plan might be slightly different than yours but here is what I am doing. I separate the internal solenoid with the remote plug and on off switch for wireless operating. I am mounting them on the drivers side . I have a diesel so I have room behind the airbox to secure it and heat shrinking all the wire ends. I also purchased the EV cowl and will have the plug and on off switch there .

That just seems wholly unnecessary. Not like there's something back there to worry about the bolts hitting.

Are you running a Motobilt bumper?

I am running a Magnum stubby front bumper.... sorry this was the only picture I has that you can see the bumper. I was running the three wires and ground at the time.
