Not “every”. Mine doesn’t affect me at all, as a result of the super bright reverse lights I have. They win handedly against the meager license plate lights. But they’re quite bright.
Have you updated the firmware?

Beyond the brightness of the tag lights, I find the back up cam messes with my night vision and useless when towing a trailer. My question is, can the Tazer turn the back up cam off?

I not sure, but I doubt it. Federal regulations require a backup camera for all new passenger vehicles.

shutting off the plate light at night, while moving is against the law too

It only works that way in reverse. Not forward.

How often do you drive down the street in reverse?
Most of the time it's a parking lot or your driveway.
Not a problem when moving in reverse. The issue is - the LEOs need to be able to read your plate at night while you are driving - if you are backing into them, you have other problems.
Besides, getting rid of the glare on that backup camera while in REVERSE is a safety thing far greater than anyone needing to read your plate number while you are in reverse.

Just a tiny bit of logic could suggest that it's not going to be a problem shutting off that plate lamp while in reverse for a few seconds.
Just a thought, anyway..............

Where is this law? I Googled it and, in my state, all it says is I must have working license plate lights when the headlights are on and white in color

Huh? Are you just confirming what he said? "You must have working license plate lights"... as in it shouldn't be turned off.

No I'm not confirming what he said. He said it's against the law to turn to the lights off at night and while moving. The lights are working, just turned off a few seconds when baking up and they turn back in when the transmission is in a forward gear. Pretty sure you won't get sighted for that.

Yes, when the vehicle is in motion on public roads. The current options available for purchase only turn off the license plate lights while the vehicle is in reverse. The law is not enforced on private property (like driveways and parking lots) where this is usually done.

You must not parallel park very much...

How many cops will be wanting to read that rear plate while you park?
Parallel parking is pretty much dead around here. I don't think they even teach it any more.

I didn't say anyone would care, just that there are times reversing happens on public roads - like parking or backing out of the driveway.
