I took the Gladiator to the dealer last week and they called me to tell me that my rear driveshaft carrier bearing was bad after 48K miles. Of course, they gave me a hard time about my lift causing the issue which I installed a 3.5" MetalCloak lift back at 4400 miles. I think I tore it up on my last offroad outing. But I was curious about running a Carrier Bearing drop spacer. Would this help with the longevity of the carrier bearing? I was looking at the Rock Jock spacer or thinking of building my own out of an 1" thick aluminum bar. Any advice?

Do you think the 3/4" RJ spacer was enough or do you think it should have been about 1". I am about to order some flat bar and was looking at 1" thick.

You definitely need a spacer, with the gladiator, you almost need one with a stock set up. It’s only a $20 part and makes a huge difference.

Do you have adjustable control arms on the rear?

Think there is a couple of spacers that are between 3/4" and 1.5". Seems the 3/4' is the most popular.

I do not have adjustable arms on the rear. Just the OEM arms.

I just bought the Spicer spacer (almost a Dr Seuss rhyme there). I have not installed it yet, though. I have the MOPAR lift.

Bigger the better. My Dana spacer is 1.5” I think. They recommend it for any lift past 2”.
