I've been struggling to get my revolver to roll right. I started out with it closing fine, but the rails were too close together up by the cab, resulting in the sides catching when rolling up. So I pulled everything out, and replaced the crap stock threaded inserts with SS Rivnuts, reinstalled the rails, cinched everything down. Rails parallel, front to back. Re-installed the roll, rolled closed fine, better spacing, but when I got to the end, it was too far to the right, had to pull it over to get it to catch. loosened everything a bit, adjusted it, rolled up fine, then back down, then up. Cinched things down, unrolled, back to out of alignment. Despite being tight at the rivnuts (top hole), the gap seems to have closed again at the top, too. I've still got the rubber expansion stopper things in the lower holes- are people doing rivnuts in both? Is any of this sounding familiar? Could over-tightening the 4 locknuts be pulling it out of true?

So I installed mine without issue, but here's a question that I was curious about reading the above - are your rails parallel to your bed sides from the front to the back? When I first installed mine, I didn't realize the rear rail bolt wasn't tightened all the way, it was just bound - that shifted things by a little bit, which led to my rails sitting crooked. The issue might be in the back, not in the front. Also - I seem to recall some little plastic spacers that were needed at the back attachment points - did you use those? Just checking because if you didn't it might sit the rail too far to the outside on the back, and thus angle it inward as you move up.

Yeah, the problem (at least with the rails) is definitely at the front. They seem to tighten up/ get closer together up by the cab, after installing the cover. I’m wondering if putting rivnuts in all four holes would help.

Use a dowel or something to just hold them in place and see if it helps the alignment before you go through the effort of installing rivet nuts in all the holes.

Unless your rail is tilted, I don’t totally see how more bolts will change it. Not saying don’t try, I just mentally can’t see how it would help if you already have two bolts in there.

Well, I have one rivnut and one rubber expansion plug thing in each side (at the front). I'm questioning whether those rubber plug things are flexing and allowing some rotation/inward tilting of the rails. I dunno. I'm also contemplating adding clamps along the rails underneath, toward the back.

Mine does the same thing towards the front, I still have the 4th, yes that’s right, 4th set of rails to put on and see if it fixes the problem and leaks. Bak has the worst QC department, first 2 sets of rails were bent so bad where it mounts to the back of the bed, that I didn’t install them. Third set was not so bad, so I installed them and they bind up the closer to the cab you get and leak worse than they should. Check the forum, I posted a bunch of pics of the bent rails.

Do you have a link? I tried doing a search, but it didn’t yield much. Thanks! I’ll look at that. I’m a blacksmith. ?

Wow - you STILL don't have a working set yet? I remember reading your posts way back before I even ordered mine. I got mine before I got the truck, and the first thing I did was open the box and check for damage. Thankfully mine were all good. I almost feel like with your luck you have a rough delivery driver or something.

I get a little more water than I had hoped for in mine, but I know it's coming from the cab seal where the front rubber seal meets the rails. There's a big gap there. The supplied foam stripping blew out on a recent drive and just wouldn't stick. I need to try something more aggressive in the future. It's not horrible, but I'd like to keep it as dry as possible back there since I carry bags for trips and such.

Yeah - Rotating inward was the one thing I could see. I worried about that with mine too. Those rubber nuts do have some flex to them. I guess it'd be an easy thing to test out. Clamp them or have someone hold the rail tighter/more level and see if it still binds. If that fixes it, hopefully another rivet nut will fix the issue.

Yeah, that's what it was. I cranked down on the rubber expansion nut- we'll see how long it holds. But I think that if I have to put a second rivnut in, that will solve the problem.

Work has been stupid crazy and what little time I have off on the weekends are going to more pressing issues, hopefully I have a 3 day weekend coming up in a few and can get them swapped out. ??
