Having said that, I do have a GTO that is basically just a body, a few seats, a steering wheel, and a massive engine, so I'm not opposed to vintage simplicity.

I thought the same thing about swimming the Gamma Goat...it was a lot of 6 wheel drive fun but rolled like an alligator if your weight was a little off.

I always laughed because of the typical Army logic, we always had drown proofing scheduled for a week or two after the vehicle swim and they'd never count the vehicle swim as credit for the drown proofing.

Ha! I don’t want a gladiator that rides like that, just looks like it. I like that it really look like a bulletproof beast. I certainly like the ride of my Mojave. Right now I have to decide if I am staying with a gladiator. My daughters Cherokee needs a new motor and is basically worthless. The dealer nearby said that I should just run this until the motor dies, and he’s pretty sure that it will. Looking at new Mojave’s maybe a Rubi. But the Colorado I used to drive for work just needed 2-1/2” of lift and some better rubber. Never had any problems with it for 150,000.

The unit I was at Ft Knox got Bradley's (old rejects M2) in mid 90s the Company Commander decided to schedule the unit to "go swim" them, my quick fast response was f### no was I going to be in one of them. A WW2 Sherman tank rigged for the Normandy invasion would be safer. A hint to the B.C and BDE COL / CSM shut that down and then we got to remove what was left of the swim barriers on them.

Back to thread, there is a old Willy's truck parked in town near me the owner tells everyone that truck will rust away before he will sell it. One with some modern running gear would be good.
