If you are doing a bedliner do yourself a favor and don't spray over the holes. You never know when you may change your mind and want to add a roof rack or some other accessory.
Yea that was also fun. Had a liner done, i didn't know about these holes... had to clean out the liner spray from the holes.

A bit odd that there are so many threaded holes in different spots of the bed for things, but jeep just stopped installing the nuts in this one spot.

It's all about assembly methods and timing, fabrication methods, etc.
Those for the tonneau covers would have been among the last being installed, plus they'd sell the trail rails as an accessory more commonly than the Jeep tonneau covers, so having the mount points for the rails makes sense. If you don't order the tonneau factory installed, chances are you'll go after-market and won't care about those points.
makes sense to me, anyway.

I thought those were for the Ham and GMRS antenna mounts. At least that's what my buddy and I used them for.

I knew they were for the OEM tonneau but I went aftermarket and didn't need them for it.

Was 50 bucks. Tool came with 70 nuts of different sizes but they were round, not hex. Hex was a 20 pack haha so I have 18 of those left. For 200 bucks i would gladly install for someone!

I took the easy way out and turned the hex hole into a mostly round hole and then used round rivnuts. I already had them and the tool as I did side armor on my JK and it's held on by rivnuts.
