Bed Rack and Roof Top Tents

For the iKamper Skycamp folks...do you reckon I can fit my iKamper BEHIND the cab above in line with the roof or is it going to overhang MUCH further back than the bumper...measurements got me at 86" length for the iKamper, 60" for the bed, add some for bumper, and we're at around 15-20" of overhang...but can't find another way to have 4 sleeping above ground for 3-4 night trips . Thanks in advance! My JTR arrived and we are hoping to get it out of port/customs next week (Dubai, Middle East!)

ok...looks like you rested the tent on the rail and then screwed one bolt per corner thru the crossrails. pretty sturdy? no problems or issues?

Its more secure than the rails are connected to the base of the tent. 4 smaller screws.

Do you happen to have, or could you get a measurement of how tall the tent is closed? Looks like you're running at least the MOPAR 2 in and 37's. I'd like to do a similar setup, but wondering if I'll still clear the garage door with the tent.

I am running 35"s with no lift in the picture. I am actually about to get a 2" lift installed. Unfortunately, my rack and tent are in the basement and probably won't go back on until the beginning of June when we go camping. I know I had plenty of clearance that would clear a standard garage and I remember looking at the clearance specifically and remembering a lift would be no problem. I hope that helps.

Here's my "CAD" sketch of the rack I am looking to design for my iKamper, & still use the OEM tonneau cover.

My goal is to use the 4 corners of the bed as support, and only go outside of the bed peripherals close to the cab with 6mm (close to 1/4") thick plate that will be the base for the strength, and then go with 50mm (close to 2") tube straight to the end and most probably straight down on top of the outside edges of the bed where the tonneau cover has a bit of a void left over we can use. Finish off with 3 cross links of 4mm inverted "U" planks from one side to the next and mount the tent...If I want to use the bed without the tent, I can bolt it off with the 2 rearmost crossmembers and the whole bed's space is available for bikes or such...

Well, at least that's the plan (next week, as this week mounting my M8274-70 winch)

Im thinking of going with the Front Runner bed rack and Front Runner Tent with shower skirt. I have an LE with the folding soft tonneau. Most likely going to have to remove with this setup. Thoughts on this setup and how to possibly keep the tonneau?

Mine is not the factory tonneau cover, my cover is the literider by agicovers.
