I’ve had the Rugged Ridge ones for almost a year no problems no rust or problems with them. I think they look a lot better than the ones that came with my gladiator.

Looks decent - the lock isn't obtrusive or obvious. These are the ones @Glad Jeeper is showing and what I have too. Different seller, same product. I’ve had them for over a year and work fine for a deterrent and piece of mind.

The Rugged Ridge one looks ripe to add a cap too. May not keep ice from getting in the mechanism from behind, but at least limits the key hole. Now you've got the issue of the cap being frozen to the lock.Looks decent - the lock isn't obtrusive or obvious.
My concern with any external lock is winter........ ice and snow. Guess I won't ask you about that.....
About 5 years ago I won a can of NAPA lock de-icer at a car show drawing with some other stuff. I thought - I've not used de-icer on anything in decades. So the can sits (with my old cans of lead substitute, octane booster and other junk). The Rugged Ridge one looks ripe to add a cap too. 3d print lots, as I'm sure losing them will be the next issue.
On second thought, some de-icer might be better.
I have the ARB dual compressor under the hood, figured it’s cheap insurance from someone messing with it.So, just curious.
What does this prevent? Or rather, what do folks think this prevents?
Someday, somewhere, some idiot will say “Hold my beer”, and try to eat one……….
As to the original subject, I have the Bolt hood lock, and love it. (No trail cam). Sorry I can’t recommend anything for the original poster, as far as latches go. As to the theft, I had a friend, years ago who had a Mark Donahue Javelin, he bought new. He babied that car, and it was beautiful! He had a long day, poker run, car show, and dinner afterwards. When he got home, he was so tired, he decided to leave it in the driveway and pull it into the garage the next morning. When he got up, it was gone. They found it outside of Mexicali a year or so later, where it had been cut up and used as a desert runner. It still makes me sick to my stomach, and it wasn’t even my car. I’ve always wanted either a Javelin, or, preferably, an AMX.You may actually appreciate having some!
We've finally fallen out of the 89-90 range. And it's NOT a dry heat!
Man the more I see about the stats in the last year or two, the more I am thinking of getting out of my "it won't happen here" mode.
I friend had a really nice 1969 AMX all restored nicely, some updates like EFI and other cool stuff. It was a really nice vehicle. He never talked of where he lived or where he kept the car, few knew about it. One day it was stolen right out of his garage. It was later found - stripped and burned.
No one was ever caught.

my Rugged Ridge latches survived last winter no problem, I didn't have an issue the one or two times I needed to open the hood, but I'm not opening the hood much in the winter months so I guess this depends on your frequency needsThe Rugged Ridge one looks ripe to add a cap too.
