Correct, this only works with the Bestop Sunrider for Hardtop, they are tossing around the idea of making one for a soft top ?

Even if it was just the same thing (only for the front seats) but adapted to work with the oem soft top, I would be interested. IMO the ability to quickly open/close a shade from the drivers seat offers more functionality/value for the full soft top anyway since you have no other way to safely open/close the top for shade without stopping and getting out of your Jeep.

ordered mine as soon as I saw this. I recently installed an Alien Shade and the one downside to it is that I can no longer put my sunrider up and down on a whim in 5 secs, Theres no way to do this one handed anymore and unless I have time at a long light to unbuckle and jump outside to lift the top I just have to wait. Its a pain. This is exactly what I was trying to find before I bought the other shade. Now I'll have the ease of opening and closing like before and I can leave the shade open if I want. Like when my wife is not in the passenger seat complaining about the sun in her eyes. Yes its expensive but look how much the mopar headliner costs. The best part is I'm done customizing now. They cant possibly make another accessory I need for this thing. I mean after I get those new performance wipers, new tires and a bed rack, and retractible bed step, then I'm defintely done. Except for maybe some decals I was looking and...........

So does it work with the Mopar version?

As far as the durability of the mechanism some commenters have mentioned. Bestop's products have always been durable enough to be used by Jeep as factory options. I'm sure they've done their homework on this retractor. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes an upgrade to the already dealer option Sunrider. I just want to know why you would spend this much money on a Sunrider with a sunshade when you could probably just get the dual top option?

I definitely like the idea. My wife enjoys a sunshade and I like it without. Which right now means I have a sunshade lol. This would let me switch at a moments notice which would be perfect since we switch vehicles frequently.

I hope the soft top version puts the roller mechanism behind or above the sound bar.

I understand the design parameters the sunrider has to work with, but I was disappointed with the amount of top that is over your head and how small the "sunroof" window is and feels, even before you add this new roller shade in front of it. Its very convenient, but not as open I had hoped.

The soft top version needs to keep as much of this openness as it can.

I’m curious to hear feedback regarding how it is…noise wise (I.e. Flapping) up over 40 MPH or so.
I can't hear a damn thing with the top off other than wind and the seat belts flapping doubt this will add to an already loud experience

Negative Ghost rider!! look at the picture. The roller is right above the drivers head and sits in front of the sunrider soft top. To be over the sound bar it would have to be back futher.

My two cents…the noise is worse with the top up. The wind with the top down, I don’t mind. It’s the flapping and buffeting racket with the top up (presumably would be similar with this contraption) that I could do without.

I really wish Jeep didn't stop at the fronts with the freedom top. I mean how hard would it be for them to design removable roof panels for the rears like in the front?

* end of rant *

This is cool. I'm gonna pre-order one. $200 isn't that bad. I've seen Jeep people spend more money on less useful stuff.

EXACTLY!

I've mentioned it a few times on these boards that this was a missed opportunity.
I imagine on the Gladiator, it might have even been an easier endeavor since there is no "rear" payload/cab section. They could have kept the back windshield actually framed within the body, and feature roll-down glass. It would make going topless SO much easier.
