With work being crazy, I did not have the opportunity to even unbox my @BillieBars order from the Black Friday sale that I got (for the trail rails vs universal fit). Given that I really wasn't doing Xmas this year, I thought it would be a great opportunity to tackle that. I had not given it any advance thought, but the channel/tnuts provided by BillieBars (the black nut in the picts) for the install are too short for attaching the rail supports my @BuiltRight utility rails.

I tried another channel nut that I have used with the BuiltRight rails (zinc one in the picts) but since it didn't extend past the rails and remained in the channel, the bolt could only get a couple turns into it. (and I don't have any longer bolts on me right now). I hope to eventually carry an RTT and/or paddleboards, so a couple turns didn't feel so safe. The other issue that I noticed was that seemingly due to the lack of the extension on the channel nut, the Billiebar support leans outwards (towards the outside of the truck) a little bit.

Since I don't expect anyone to be around next week -- I thought I would see what everyone's thoughts were here on the best way to remedy this? Longer bolts or different channel nuts? Or?

Bonus doggo pict b/c crimmus.

Feel free to shoot us an email and we may be able to help. If you use the unistrut nut (zinc coated one in the pic) you could just get some longer bolts. BUTTTTT - we just finished up some new designed t-nuts that should solve your problem. Shoot us an email - we would love to get these to you and try them out!

I had the same problem - here's a pic of my solution:

I got some longer bolts and assorted washers at the hardware store. The larger washers span the distance across the rail and eat up the dead space, keeping the mount vertical. I also put some blue loctite to keep it all together and have had no issues so far.

Its not the perfect or most elegant solution - but it was quick and seems to work okay!
