Has anyone been successful getting a dealership to fix this problem?
No, and Jeep Cares offered to help only to tell me that me system is already updated to the latest version so there is nothing they can do.

If anyone is watching this issue, this is definitely still a thing. My build finished in October and it has these same problems verbatim.

My hands free phone calls are pointless too. Everyone I try and talk to says it sounds loud and windy with the windows up and hardtop on. I hate getting a call in my Gladiator knowing that if it’s important I have to pic up my phone and hold it to my ear and turn off handsfree. Seems like a safety issue and definitely should be fixed by Jeep especially if it’s something we paid for and isn’t working. I guess I’ll add it to the list with the steering. The last thing I wanted was to spend more time at a dealership....
@jeep cares... is this getting addressed? Other than us having to make an appointment only to have the dealer not know what the fix is?
Same here and when I’m in GA, which I am a lot these days. It’s drive illegally (due to the hands free law) or find somewhere to pull over, which also isn’t a good option.

Is there any kind of fix or update for this?

My father just picked up his Gladiator and it has the same issue. Any updates from Jeep on this?

I took my Jeep in, still have the noise. But the techs did not follow instructions and broke the GPS. So... another month to make another appointment so they can assess the damage and schedule another appointment for the repair. All the delays blamed on Covid-19. It is time to end the blame game and get back to work.

Wow! Jeep dealer is digging a hole into my Jeep. The update to the radio did nothing to fix the issue of microphone noise, but it did wipeout the GPS. They tried another update and claimed that I will need a new radio. The radio was on backorder. It came in yesterday. Still didn't fix the original issue of the microphone noise, but it did wipeout the off-road page and Xmradio. When I tried to activate the "new" radio, Xmradio told me it was already activated by another subscriber and has been for over a year. So my "New radio" is really used. However Xmradio can not activate my radio because I am not Mathew F., whoever that is. Back to the dealer again to let them punch another hole in it.

What's that number to JeepCares? I can give them my R/O numbers.

I just did the fix as @Sleighman had written up in this thread. Works perfectly. All of listeners on the other end said "It definitely sounds like you are in the car, but I can hear you fine." This was with the hard top on but both front windows open going 50 mph. That's a huge improvement and a win in my book. Not sure why FCA won't use similar mics for all of their vehicles.

The new mics are much larger and don't fit flush against the opening, however, it really isn't necessary. As long as the mic opening is close, you are good to go. I only ordered a pair of the new mics and then spliced them in using the old connectors. Red to red, Black to white. Soldered the ends and covered in heat shrink tubing. Used some grey duct tape to insure they didn't move when off-roading.

Here are some pictures of how I used the factory plug and married the two pins. This way there is no splicing of any wires. As you look at the pictures you will see how we cut the factory pins at the crimp. Then we used a small file to take the burs off from the cut. We pushed the factory pin cut off side into the end of the female side of the replacement mic. At the junction put a (little) soder. Once done look at the picture of the factory connector.
We drilled by hand the outer part of the holes so the soder part would push in. (NO power tools) you will notice the pins won't push far enough in to the connector if you don't do this step. DO NOT DRILL ANY THING BUT THE OUTER PART OF THE HOLES. THE PINS LOCK IN THE HOLES YOU RELEASED THEM FROM EARLIER>

Be Gentle. Once the pins are seated your done. Put them in the Gladiator.

Are those pins available - should be cheaper than buying the oem mic to cut them off - just graft the pins on the GC mic.
@ShadowsPapa might know how to source them.
I did see the GC mic for about $10 - 12 each on eBay (Joewy - seller).

The issue is that this is likely a problem that ALL Gladiators have and that EVERYONE is suffering from ... Many dont use it enough to worry about it and others like me just unpair their phone and go about our business ...

Mine does EXACTLY what the others are describing which leads me/us to believe (probably rightly so) that this is common to all of them and is a bug or engineering issue... Many of us are engineers ourselves and have a pretty good feel for this stuff ...

And honestly I've been to my dealer before .... These guys are mechanics, not computer or electronics experts ... No one wants to go in there and have them waste their time and more importantly OUR time for something that JEEP should be releasing a TSB or RECALL for and giving the dealers clear direction on exactly how to fix it ..

These dealers can MOSTLY follow directions ... Asking them to troubleshoot something that is rooted in bad design or software is an exercise in futility ...
I just wanted to give this statement a bump. This is what Jeep engineers should be working on, not trying to pacify their customers with extended warranties or ignoring us like there is no problem. We are lucky to have forum members that take an interest with this issue and find a solution. Yet Jeep keeps pumping out more defective products into the system. Jeep cares shouldn't be patronizing us, they should be all over FCA engineering to get this taken care of. Laws now require "hands-free" regarding cellphone use. How about Jeep make that possible in the JT without a third party device like every other vehicle out there?

Still waiting!!

Yes. I figured that if it all went to hell I could just order a replacement JT mic. It’s not like the original was usable anyway.

2 month update and the fix is still going strong. Not sure why Jeep let such a piece of crap feature leave the plant. Jeep, Do Better! @JeepCares
