Remove the top, go someplace completely new..

Jeeps are tools, if you keep your mind around the experiences you can create with them, you will be much happier, and the dopamine hit comes in much better ways....

Upgrades are useless, unless needed to make the tool do something new....

If you want that hit... buy a ducati...

So, in lieu of making a horrible financial decision and trading in a paid-off 2020 JTR with 48K miles, I'm searching for ideas to break the boredom of the truck (and appease my dopamine deficit). I did the basic/usual upgrades in the first year of ownership, five years ago (e.g., Falcon 3.3, Method wheels, 37"s, Clayton lift, RPM 2.5 ton steering...blah blah).

What would you do next? How would you reignite the spark that I once had for my JTR? Every relationship needs to be spiced up a little bit (and don't say Hemi swap...I've been down that road).

I wouldn't necessarily say I "wheel" this truck as much as I used to; however, I played with the idea of focusing more on a Ranger Raptor "competitor." This is now my daily driver after I had to sell my beloved Kei truck (thanks, Ohio).

Sounds like you won't be satisfied with any vehicle. Buy a Cyber Truck and you can whiz away a lot of money and still be bored.

Yup...doing all of my work other than mounting tires. No, I wholeheartedly agree...but was (am) on the precipice of trading in for a 1500 Rebel, not a "newer" Jeep (unless it was a 392). I've been coming across 2019-2021 Rebels (50-70k miles) for a $2-5k delta from trade appraisals, which is a little too tempting. That said, I do have some weird, somewhat emotional attachment to my JTR – "known" it since mile 10 on the odometer...and the Gator color is *chef's kiss*.

Given the number of 1500s that seem to be available for the given years/mileage, I can only assume the owners were either freaked out or having issues with the "Hemi tick" and manifold bolts. However, I think the 5.7 Hemi and 3.6 Pentastar share similar longevity characteristics...it's all about maintenance! Long story short, I at least know why my JTR's issues are, how they were fixed, maintenance...etc.

As for mods, I mean, I started this thread because I haven't had a burning desire for anything specific (but portals that someone suggested...that would be kind of sick). I went through my Hemi swap phase (which was a disaster/dodged a bullet there), wannabe overland phase, and I'm still kind of stuck in my longarm/coilover phase. Other than that, the OEM+ thing I have going on suits my aesthetic taste. Now to contradict myself – a flat bed/canopy setup is something I've been eyeing as well, but it seems like a logistical nightmare.

So yes, I need to get the truck back out there. I will admit, as a North Carolina native (I miss that state terribly) now Ohio and soon-to-be Florida resident, I still go to OBX every year; getting out on the beach super early with the dogs and the truck does make me feel some type of way (not that that is really "wheeling," but I think ya'll get it). Since I've sold off two of my beaters, I guess I've been wary about what I am willing to put my JTR through. So, perhaps the answer is – get a new beater daily and enjoy the JTR as is.
Time to come wheel in the West: Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Wyoming, and California have enough to keep you busy and interested for more than one lifetime.

Don't forget Nevada, the area outside of valley of fire is amazing. Hard to believe you're only 40 minutes from the strip when you're out there.

Since you’ll be in Florida, make the trip to Jeep Beach in Daytona the last week of April. Thousands of Jeeps, new and old, probably no two alike. Drive on the beach, try the various off-road courses at the Speedway, even make a few laps around the Daytona oval (sign up early). Hundreds of vendors tents. As you would expect, everyone is friendly. We had a blast. Check out the website.

It's funny because I used to live in NC...so access to Uwharrie and Windrock was great (spoiled). I'm moving to Pensacola from Ohio in August, but I haven't looked into the off-road scene in the panhandle.
No experience wheeling in FL (because I heard it sucked). Lots of great places in the area though. Stoney lonesome, hot springs ORV, windrock, hawk pride. We drove our 2019 JLUR on 38s 2,400 miles from CA to visit family in Alabama just so we could wheel while we were there. I know we are spoiled out west, but it's funny to me when people complain"there's nowhere to wheel" where they live. Good thing the Jeeps can be driven for hundreds of miles a day at 85mph, so you can get to somewhere to wheel.
