Hello All, I could use your help.
I was in an accident with my 23 gladiator Mojave (this one has the full time auto 4 wheel drive option/cv's), I broke the axle in half.. via a Good Samaritan stopping in the middle of the road at rush hour on the back side of a hill. I clipped his left rear tire with my front right.

The Mojave went to a non-jeep dealer collision repair center, talked into it per insurance.. their estimate states they are replacing the axle assembly with a non-specific axle.. Per the actual jeep dealership when I called about this part number.

Can you tell me if this replacement axle is up to par and/or what the differences are.
Also can you tell me if the gears, axles/cv's are included within an assembly?

Collision center axle part number: 68651279AA ($3,400). (jeep dealer stated this part fits 2021-2025 gladiators but not specific to my vehicle.

Jeep dealership, vin specific part number: 68651263AA (dealer stated it's not available, assuming this is why collision center is going another route.)

Word on the forums.. with using a non-specific axle, I heard that the even if this axle may work they would either have to either drill out Lower shock mount on the new axle for the larger shock bolts that the Mojave has, and/or sleeve the lower shock grommets for use of a smaller bolt/smaller mount hole on the axle. Can you confirm?

Looking at these parts online:

68651279AA says it is a 2021-2025 Mojave, Mojave X axle housing. If this is what the collision place says they are going to use, it appears to be the right thing. Looking at the parts diagram it does not include axles, gears, diff cover, and probably some other parts. No gears is probably why it is not specific to your vehicle.

https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-axle-housing-68651279aa

68651263AA says it is a 2021-2025 "service axle" for a 2021-2025 Mojave, Mojave X. The parts diagram shows it with the diff cover on it so it is likely it has the correct gears in it, which would make it specific to your vehicle. Basically it looks like the same thing as the other part number plus gears and maybe some other parts.

That's my take on it from looking at the parts diagrams.

Interesting in that the service axle is 300.00 less than the axle housing..

I bet the difference is cast iron knuckles vs aluminum knuckles. You want the cast iron knuckles.

Both part #s saying they are for a Mojave, I don't think the knuckles will be aluminum on either.

Now is a prefect time to upgrade to a ud44 or Currie 44 without the FAD housing (which is where yours broke as it's the weak link). Gain a front locker in the process and way more strength. Even if they wanted me to pay the $1-2k difference it would be worth while to upgrade while the insurance is paying at least the bulk of the cost.

Looking at the diagrams, the knuckles are not included in those part numbers. They are additional parts.

-get a quote from an independent garage with a full parts list make them
-give that to insurance make them include an alignment cost
-tell them you plan to repair it yourself
-order install 60's and other goodies .. make it better not the same

**BTW there is no way i would be letting some insurance recommended shop ... get a jeep dealer and shop of you choice to get you a quote***EDIT

Good idea if you can use the upgrade.

The OP snapped his axle in half on the road so I'd say we could all use the upgrade? Especially being a 4A rig the FAD is engaged on road a lot more or all the time depending on model year so it's all positives. The teraflex housing is around the same cost as the Mopar and includes an elocker. They pretty much all reuse the outers but the tube strength gain combined with better shafts and ball joints is a win even if you don't NEED them.

It took an accident to break it on the road.

If you don't wheel, I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade the axle.

Even if it's the same cost as the replacement and the insurance is paying anyway? I couldn't stomach dropping $3500 on a stock replacement that doesn't even come with outers, still has trash plastic lined ball joints, and the FAD housing.

If insurance is paying, I'm not giving them another $2,300 for a front axle I don't need.

But that's just me and I drive a basically stock truck 😄

Explain how the overpriced stock axle is $3500 and the teraflex axle is...$3500 but it's an extra $2300?
