Bronco is fullsize - no comparison

Overall width both without mirrors the Bronco is 2.1 inches wider just googling the stats. If it was as wide as an F150 I'd agree with you because those are pretty wide. It must appear to be much wider but it really isn't, at least overall. I haven't seen a new Bronco yet, but I'll be paying attention to it now. My old K5 is a wide vehicle I know how important width is on trails. But only 2 inches wouldn't seem to be that much more noticeable.

I believe its actually a 6 inch difference with mirrors folded versus a wrangler. 79 for the bronco vs 73 for a wrangler. The bronco actually is the width of an F150, and it looks a lot chunkier too becuase the jeep has fender flares and the coke bottle shape, the bronco is a big slab. Now a raptor its not, its 6 inches thinner than a raptor which is truely a wide body pickup.

Its a midsize SUV only in length because full sizes at this point are 3 row and longer.

Lol what? 1” longer and 2.3” wider? Oh man, it’s a porker in comparison. ? Being fair, the Bronco with mirrors is about 8” wider than the Wrangler with mirrors. But if we’re talking about fitting on a trail? Fold in the mirrors and it’s mere inches wider.

I just stopped by a dealer and looked over the new bronco, much like the raptor, it's a fat pig.

It's as wide as a half ton. The wrangler/gladiator will win this war for two reasons.

1. it's truly mid-size segment and will park and fit down trails as such.
2. solid front axle.

Ford you effed up...two things you needed to get right imo, size and solid front axle. They aren't even in the same class imo, the jeep is the only competition for the jeep.

It will be interesting to really start hearing unbiased reviews ... it does seem like one constant is the size. I've also heard some criticism of the 10 spd, which I've had recent experience with their 10 spd in a 150 and I wholeheartedly agree that at times that trans seemed possessed with a mind of it's own. Not remotely as sooth as Jeeps 8 spd ... even though they are made by the same company as I understand.

I tend to approach it from the perspective of ... strip out all of Fords electronic aids and what are you left with..... another average platform.

Yeah something about it in-person feels much wider. I think the boxiness of it does a lot on that front.

Honestly I dislike this aspect so much it led me to dismiss a bronco-based truck immediately. Not for me.

*They look bigger than they feel.
*Sasquatch looks awesome in person on a 4 door.
*Sasquatch drives awesome on road and off road and felt great going 50mph down a dirt road.
*Great turning radius, smooth acceleration with the 2.3L. I clocked about 7.5-8 seconds for 0-80.
*Interior is meh but functional, 12” screen and 360 camera are both fantastic.

They’re going to be wildly popular. Coming from someone who decided to buy a Gladiator instead. But, my wife is still getting a Bronco so I get a bit of both in my life.

Ummm, what? I agree the Bronco is big, but it is very capable off-road. The Tacoma is also VERY capable off-road, one of my wheeling group drives a 2019 TRD Offroad. It is in NO WAY a lifted car, sorry but you've completely lost me on that.

apples to oranges comparison only - full size vs midsize segments, similar features, but stuffing one down the trail or parking spot or in the garage....vs the other....will be two different segments altogether

ford's best chance at a apples to apples comparison to jeeps would be to put that 7-speed manual transmission into the Ranger, that would have made me look as i was all about the manual transmission and midsize, the taco doesn't compete with the gladiator, or qualify as a truck imo (lifted car now), so the ranger 2.3 with manual would make a far better comparison

If they made it the same size and solid front axle people would have complained they just copied Jeep. Differentiation and success of the Bronco will help drive both Jeep and Bronco forward. Win win. I hope it does well.

I have watched a lot of youtube videos of the new Bronco, the IFS seems very capable, yet to see anything that shows a solid front axle vehicle with the same size tires do something the Bronco cannot or even do it better. One thing they keep keying in on in the videos is how easy the front sway bar disconnects and how easily and quickly the lockers engage.

The Transmissions might be assembled in the same place, but they're completely different designs. The ford is a Ford/GM collaboration, the Gladiator is a ZF which is pretty much the top dog in automatic transmissions.

Also, the wildtrak is indeed 79 inches, the BASE is 76 inches. So yes, the wildtrak actually is the width of a standard F150. "...That's not too surprising, given the extra doors.
