I have a 23 gladiator overland. It’s my first jeep. Always liked them but thought the price was too high. Well I noticed an offer for a 61 k overland for 45 k. I’m a fan of a good deal. Figured for the price. Why not. I bought it. Well to my surprise. It must have brought out the kid still In me. Well I love this thing way more than imagined I would. Well now I am
Thinking the way I use it. I should have got a Mojave. I assumed I would like the luxury feature more of the overland but now the Mojave is calling my name. Not sure if I’m going to act on it yet. But either way I’m enjoying this truck. Did some light trails and once again. Didn’t think I would but I’m all in now. Oh well maybe I’ll catch a desperate dealer that wants to give me an incredible trade deal. I have put 8 k miles on it in 3 months. I can only say. A truck comes in handy more than you may imagine

Not a popular opinion around here, but I say "buy what you'll use". If the truck is currently doing all the things you want then flipping it for more debt is just gonna leave you with a more expensive toy. . .and more debt lol.

If it was me I would not trade for a mojave... if anything I'd go rubicon. But I'd decide on a plan for your use now.

I went after mojave when I was looking but every one I found was over priced, and I didn't realize some of the features I'd be giving up vs a rubi. I went rubicon for the front and rear lockers with electronic disconnects and never looked back. The ride of my rubicon is comparable to the mojave, i noticed no difference on the road.... I'm sure mojave is better at high speed off road, but that is not the trails we have in tn or my style offroad, I ride more technical slow trails and having both front and rear locked along with away bar disconnects from the driver's seat meant more to me than the high speed capability.

rubicons and mojaves are identically priced
The ride of my rubicon is comparable to the mojave
that's just not accurate

Here we go. Nothing wrong with wanting different capabilities. Rubicon is a great model and serves it purposes admirably. Mojave is a great model too. But let's not pretend the Rubicon has every benefit the Mojave has. They are built to be different models at the same price point, and as such excel at different things.

Test drove both the Rubi and Mojave had identically rides. The previous statement is 100% true

You can build it out, exactly like you want it for less money than what you would lose trading it in for a Mojave. Plus, after you get a Mojave it's only a matter of time before you start modifying that too.

I have, and it led me to the purchase decision i made. I owned a willys for 6 months, and when i was considering an upgrade drove both the rubicon and mojave. rubicon was too bouncy and didn't eat bumps the way the mojave did.

Well not sure I would trade unless the deal was correct. I could have got a rubicon for a similar price discount as you all know but at the time my thought were using it purely as a household pickup. Never thought I would go off road which is why the overland was more appealing. Now that I know more If the right deal was ever about I personally would get a Mojave. I prefer to buy them as close to the way I want them as possible. No longer interested in modding cars anymore.

Just a note. I’m not dying for a Mojave my overland is capable of the light trails I do. The most I plan to do is let my salesperson know my Mojave build and say if they have a 23 they are looking to do a nice deal /trade on I’m interested. I do have 8k miles and daily drive it. So I would easily mentally write of 3-4 k of rental car expenses for the use

I have a Rubi, while my friend has the Mojave, there is a NOTICEABLE difference in the ride quality. My Rubi is fairly stiff. My buddies Mojave rides like a dream on the road.

People Work?
The only thing I don't like about my Mojave is how the shocks squeak when it's cold outside.
I've been managing that with some silicone spray, but it doesn't last long if it's been raining.
Better seats, better rides, better built frame and suspension.

If you're a crawler, get the Rubicon.
If you're like most of us and the majority of your miles are spent on pavement, it's Mojave.
Or you COULD build up your Overland.

My first JT was an Overland and loved it. Went everywhere I wanted to go. Dont think you have too many areas in New Jersey where you can put the Mojave through its paces.

Like I said from

Could ? be me. 2020 rubicon with what I assume are factory fox shocks (15k miles when i purchased). I noticed no difference in our test drive. Wife didn't notice any difference either. That is coming from a 18 jl with 4.5 teraflex and fox shocks on 40's.

Several jk, cj, sj, tj, and one lj in the past.... could just be the ride is so much better than others I have had that I don't notice, but that was my seat of the pants feel.

Also was told the seats where better in the mojave. And in long trips that could be true, but I could not feel a huge difference. The one difference I could tell was I like the cloth in this one better than leather in my jl.... I was impressed that one of the mojaves we drove had power seats, never seen that in any of jeeps over the years since my 83 sj cherokee.

As far as price difference mentioned in above posts... I do agree sticker was similar, however dealer's here where discounting rubicons far greater than mojave's. That was on both lot vehicles and pre-owned. Average seemed about 5 to 6k less for rubi.

I really liked the mojave with green exterior and light tan almost white leather, but they would not budge off sticker, rubi's they would. Even more so on low mileage used.

And again for the riding we do here... that is completely a personal choice, I know people that never touch the lockers.... I do. I'll also put a brand new vehicle in places many wouldn't dream. I respect all trim levels.

Hell to me a max tow is the best bang for the buck if you intend to truly build one.
