It is not on the Window sticker.

Thank you! I will look at door sticker tomorrow. I used VIN to get build sheet but doesn't list build date.

It could have been a sale that couldn't get financing. Someone drove it for a week and the dealer couldn't get them financed and thus had to call them back into the dealer. It would still be able to be sold as new since technically it never got licensed.
Thanks! I didn't think of that. I would prefer that scenario to mechanical issues with the vehicle.

Quite a few low mileage Gladiators getting turned back in because of engine problems. Be careful. Check the issues & warranty section of this forum for some great info.
By “quite a few”, I presume you mean a very small percentage of vehicles built. Probably similar to other manufacturers...

You are correct. It’s seems only a small percentage of Jeep owners are getting burned by FCA. That should bring joy & happiness to all.

I would not agree to the deal without driving the vehicle at this point.

I find these scenarios very interesting. I'm the "car guy" of the family and have probably done 50-60 transactions on behalf of myself or for friends/family. I've honestly never seen a vehicle delivered with 800 miles as "new". I recall looking up a while back if there were threshold laws in place for what is considered "new". A few states have some vague guidelines, but overall, there's not much to point to.

Bottom line, it's up to you as the buyer. For most people, 800 miles is a little less than a month of driving. Sounds like the warranty will give you a full 36,800 miles, so that's good. One side of the coin says it's just a month. The other side points to the "unknown" as a lot can happen in a month.

For me, I would feel like I would be absorbing some type of "risk" that the average "new" buyer is not absorbing. Obviously a further price discount is the starting point, then I would go extended warranty, then accessories. I personally would not take delivery of the vehicle without some type of compensation for my "risk".

I think you need to evaluate your risk threshold and what you will do with the truck. If you plan to wheel it and tow with it you probably will do more wear and tear that whatever happened to it in the first 800 miles so no biggie. But for sure there should be a financial incentive for taking an almost new truck. And one thing to note the “break in” period seems to be a thing of the past. You will hear mixed opinions but most mechanics I talk to say drive it like you would normally right from mile 1. There are no longer poor fitting parts and metal shavings that need to be babied and changed out with the first oil change. The break in is typically viewed as a thing of the past.

Rule Of Thumb: Once a vehicle has been registered, it is legally considered used. If the vehicle has never been registered (regardless of how many miles are on it), the vehicle is legally considered new. Demonstrators, therefore, are still considered new.

What is the difference between a demonstrator and a used car? Aren't they both considered used?
A demonstrator car (or demo) is a new car that has been driven by the dealership's salesmen, managers or executives but has never been registered with the state. A used car is any car that has been registered.

Would think some sort of discount or extended warranty thrown in if the unit drives and has no defects or issues. Don't let them con you I got stuff thrown in and provided at no cost simply cause they could not get the color vehicle I wanted. So they can do stuff for you just a matter of if they think they can sell the unit to someone else without all the extra

Engine break-in proceedur may not have been followed by the dealer
What engine break in procedure(s) are Jeep dealers supposed to be doing prior to delivery? My dealer struggles to wash & fuel up before delivery. :)

Possible new owner and newb here. Need some advice and help.

Looking at purchasing a new 2020 JT Rubicon and working with a dealer I trust. They are trading for the vehicle from another dealer. We have worked out a good deal for the vehicle and I am happy with what I am paying. My dealer just called me and said that when they went to get the JT from the other dealer, the odometer is at 800 miles. The trading dealer is saying it wasn't a demo and either take it or leave it. I am sure a manager has been driving. Just disappointed that it was undisclosed.

I am concerned with whether I should say yes or turn it down. The JT has everything I want. Just concerned about the 800 miles and it being labeled a "new" car. What concerns should I have or be looking for?

The dealer and I will go over the vehicle with a fine tooth comb and ensure that nothing is wrong or needs attention. I am friends with the service manager and he is going to put the JT up on the lift and look over everything.

Any thoughts or feedback?

I appreciate it!
Make them give you a "No Charge" 6 year 100k mile FCA "Gold" extended warranty. Otherwise I would say no thank you!

I bought mine new with 960 miles. Dealership owner used it for a few weeks. Got a good deal tho.

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback and advice! I really appreciate it.

Test drove and inspected vehicle today - it was in great shape! The service manager is a friend and he went over it with a microscope and said he said no issues at all and everything was great. I didn't see one issue and looked over everything for an hour while going through the delivery checklist.

It looks like it was used as a demo for one of their managers.

We are finalizing our negotiation on additional discounts and accessories for the extra miles, but know I will get something worthwhile. I got a really great deal so excited to take delivery!

Been lurking for a while on the forums and it is great to get the immediate feedback and advice from everyone.

My first jeep and excited to join the club!
