URE is great, but the Gladiator doesn’t like the ”whoops” due to the longer wheel base. I ran all but the front side of Daniel stock on 35’s before going with the Clayton 3.5 Overland plus paired with Bilstein 5160 shocks And KO2 37’s. For me it is perfect, I no longer have any issues with dragging the belly, the rear end is still an issue to watch out for, but a hitch skid helps mitigate that. I do go out and offroad in other areas also, which is why I decided on the 3.5” instead of just the 2.5”. Not sure how close to Uwharrie you are, or what your week looks like, but I am planning be there this week from Tues.-Thurs. If you are free and want to run a trail or two and see how it rides let me know.

Wish I could get out there this week to run with you, but need to do some stuff at work. Thanks for the offer, but it will have to wait for another time.

With Clayton lifts you will get roughly 1/2" to 3/4" more lift than advertised and be aware that the ride quality is definitely on the FIRM side with any shocks you choose. If you are set on a Clayton system that's great, just know these callouts. I've had their springs and I'm purely just keeping this conversational factual.

I got over 3.5” lift with the 2.5” kit because I didn't add much weight to the truck. With 37” tires it’s a great combo.

The springs with the Clayton overland lifts are triple rated, meant to be loaded down. If you’re not planning on loading your bed with a rack, RTT, other gear etc the ride will be stiff. If you‘re not I’d go with their ride right suspension or go with Metalcloak.

Hey all,

Been searching, comparing, digging through threads…

Wanting t lift the Gladiatior after a wonderful Jeep Jamboree in Uwharrie this year.

Needing additional clearance, currently running 35s, will move to 37s later.

Rubicon did well, but want to know which is better for 90% street, 10% trail.

Feedback greatly appreciated!
I have done The Rubicon trail twice with my Clayton 3.5" Overland kit on my JTR. Get the 3.5" lift and 37 inch tires, you will need it, and you will be very happy you did. Great sliders, Skids on your rear control arm brackets (Front bracket part), and nodular iron rear diff cover or rear diff skid is also needed IMHO. Check my build link for more info.
