The Recirculation setting on the climate controls automatically shuts off under certain conditions. I understand why, because it is in the Owners Manual (see below). However, I haven't quite figured out the logic that automatically shuts off the Recirc.

All I know is that my Jeep will stay in Recirc all summer long, but as soon as the weather turns cooler it will shut off the Recirc after several minutes. I have to keep pressing the button to avoid pulling in stinky outside air.

So, has anyone figured out how to over-ride the factory logic and be able to keep the Recirc on full time any time the button is pressed?

I thought that using recirc with A/C would keep drying the air out?
Or is they referring to recirc without A/C?

to me it’s always with A/C, unless the weather is great in which case you’d want to keep fresh air coming in. So I’d only use recirc with A/C and dusty, outside odor, etc.

Hmmm, weird. I keep mine on recirc/AC almost all the time and it’s never reset itself.

I gave up trying to figure it out. But I did notice that when it's not in recirculation mode the vent door is only halfway so it's actually pulling both inside and outside air vs purely one or the other.

To help negate smells I would look at swapping your cabin air filter with a charcoal-activated one to help pull odors. I just swapped mine and found out Mopar actually specs different filters for diesel and gas. The diesel gets a charcoal-activated filter that is half the size and requires you to buy two. The gas motor calls for a single-piece non-charcoal activated filter. Both are sourced from Mann Filter. By nature, the diesel one cost 2x as much because you have to buy 2.

Mine acts like this all summer long. It's only when it starts getting cold out that the Recirc shuts off automatically. My bet is that your location in NM has a lot to do with it.

Are you charging modes or air direction? Mine is set to AC coming out the round vents at 68 degrees with recirc on year round. The temperature of the air coming out the vents changes with the weather, but recirc never turns off. On long trips, the system will open the outside vent about every 45 minutes and let fresh air in for a few minutes.

I always use recirculation, know there is a cabin filter but I'm not interested in bringing in any allergens that can be avoided.

It's always on, always on Lo, even in winter. I hate stuffy cabins. Never had this internal humidity issue.

No, no changes to mode or air location or temperature. I press the Recirc button, it lights up along with the AC button, then several minutes later the Recirc shuts off and the AC stays on. I've also tried shutting off the AC when I turn on Recirc, but the same thing still happens.

Does anyone know the actual logic that the system uses? I assume there is a sensor somewhere and/or some "if ..., then ..." logic to it.

Do you have it set to defrost mode? I believe that will kick off the recirc after a while to keep your window from fogging?

It's a Jeep thing. That defies logic.

Nope.

In defrost, it immediately shuts off recirc, which is typical.

Set climate control on "AUTO"?

I'm not positive but it seems to work.
I may try that again. But I don't really like AUTO mode because I don't like it having control of fan speed.
