Thank you for your time ! I have a 2020 Overland. Not long after the purchase (May 15, 2020) I noticed a "clunk" under the cab/bed. It occurs when I feather the gas petal, rolling (ie. In a parking lot) along from 5 to 20 mph. This is intermittent, not all the time. At regular driving (including at stop lights)not in a parking lot, the "clunk" is not there. It has not become any worse and only occurs in a "parking lot" situation. I wondered if any one else has noticed this condition with there JT. I have scheduled a review of this condition with the dealer on the 12th of May, two days before the one year anniversary. Thanks for any thoughts!

Bad driveshaft joint or slack in a gear set.

While nobody can 100% diagnose you from the internet...

Likely what cowboy said.

Could be a loose yoke or too much play (backlash) in the differential.

If you it isn’t super loud, it could be normal. These are trucks after all :)

I changed out my fluid recently and checked my gears while doing it. Everything looked good, and I occasionally hear some noise back there too!

Check all your suspension bolts and nuts. I found almost all of them loose on my wife's gladiator and it was clunking at low speeds pretty randomly. Tightening them all up fixed the clunking. The tie rod nuts and drag bar nuts were very loose. Took 3-4 full threads to get them up to the 64 ft-lb factory spec (which seems awfully low to me)

Yea definitely check your bolts to see if they're tight. After installing my lift and going on my first dirt road experience, I could hear a clunk sound. It got pretty annoying for a week. Thought it was a rock or something lodged up somewhere hitting things.

I had my girlfriend get into the car and turn the wheel left and right slowly. Found out my front track bar was loose. Now... after many months. I forgot what the sound sounded like.

Well, a little update, the tech at the dealership though it was a little play in the driveshaft. He said, common with Jeeps and Dodge trucks. I thought ok, we will see if it gets any worse. Best to all !

Unfortunately, that is typical of dealer service technicians. They can't figure something out, so they say it's "normal"...

My 2021 JT HA does the same thing when decelerating/down shifting at low speed. Like when coming to a stop sign or light. Figure I'll keep an eye on it and take it in if it gets worse before the warranty runs out...

Just got clunking after lift install and alignment. Manual transmission and it really only clunks when up shifting 1-2 ,2-3. Gonna re (re) torque everything and try putting a go pro under while driving to see if I can diagnose.

Add me to the list of that unknown knocking sound coming from underneath.

2020 JT Sport. Purchased new June 2020. Mopar 2" lift w/Toyo Open Country A/T III (285/75/17) so...34" tires installed by dealer at time of purchase.
Just shy of 10,000 miles now. Since purchased, I've installed GoRhino DSS side steps and a Decked storage system in the bed. No other add-ons thus far... No rock crawlin, muddin' or overlanding yet. Hasn't even been in 4wd yet. I did tow a 18 ft camp trailer (3200 lbs) for 300 miles. (No problem there...65 mph was about the best it could do tho.)

About a month ago I began to hear and slightly feel a light knocking sound from under the jeep. Sounds like it's coming from the mid or rear section. I typically hear it when decelerating.
Driving below 20 mph... let of gas pedal... knocking begins and is commensurate with the speed of the vehicle. As the vehicle speed decreases, the knocking decreases.
This is an automatic transmission. The knocking continues if I shift into neutral.

I've checked eveything I could put my hands on under the vehicle...to see if anything is loose. I've read the forums, some of which that address the knocking sound are 99 pages worth. There's a mix of stuff.... The rear diff, carrier, driveline, pinion, rear axel, suspension bolts, sway bar, drag bar, etc.

I took "everything" out of my Jeep, even the ice scraper under the seat. I removed the Decked system drawers and anything else that would move in rythm with the deceleration of the vehicle. The noise continues........knock, knock, knock. Or, knock......knock......knock.....if your going slower.

Of course I sent an email to Jeep Cares. They replied promptly and encouraged me to take the vehicle back to the dealership for inspection.
The vehicle was at the dealership's service department (Lithia Chrysler, Jeep Dodge of Twin Falls) for four days. The service writer and technician both heard the knocking upon test drive.
After four days, they could not determine the origin or cause. I was told the rear diff, driveline, and transfer case all checked out fine. I was told Jeep engineers were also consulted. The technician reported the knocking stopped when he shifted to neutral (but he also said his hearing "aint so good"). I was told the sound could not be duplicated while the the vehicle was on the lift for inspection. So, maybe that means its something occuring when the vehicle is supporting it's own weight? Maybe that's a clue? Anyone have thoughts?

Despite what the technician said, the knock does NOT go away when shifted to nuetral.... I am doubtful the inspection of the rear diff actually happened. The technician was convinced the rear diff was ruled out since he didn't hear the knock when the vehicle was in neutral.
I was told to bring the vehicle back if it continues or gets worse....wth? Within minutes of driving away from the dealership.... knock, knock, knock. I sent a text to the service manager telling him the knock was worse and did continued when in nuetral. His reply...."I'll pass it on".

Sad... I really like everything about the gladiator and had some fun things planned..... But, I know somethings wrong. Any help would be appreciated. I know, I know....Turn up the radio right?

That would drive me freaking crazy. If it happens in tune with moving the vehicle and could not be duplicated on a lift I would guess at front drivetrain pieces. I wonder what would happen if you put it in 4wd?

Sounds from under the vehicle can be mysterious and hard to isolate, so don’t stick to the rear.

After installing my skid plates I had an annoying rattle that I could swear came from the rear axle area. Ended up being the exhaust touching the oil pan skid.
