- Attempted to start up this morning a few times no luck

- Waited a few hours and applied some hotshot additive after the fact

- Tried restarting and got the “Diesel preheat in process, please wait”

- Shortly after the the dash and gear selector started flashing and a clicking coming from under the hood

- Unable to stop this from occurring or to lock the vehicle

I don’t have a block heater currently (will definitely be getting one after this) and have not had issues in the past starting in the cold. Combing through the manual but haven’t found anything specific to what’s occurring.

Has anyone seen something like this occur with their ecodiesel? Still can’t post videos on reddit but took a few to capture. Appreciate any tips for other resources or fixes. Either way planning to ride it out and probably get it towed once the storm passes. Thanks in advance

Pretty common indication that your battery voltage is very low. Hook up a charger or jumper cables from another vehicle and you should be able to get the Jeep to at least shut off for now.

Past that immediate issue, you need to charge the battery(ies) and probably deal with gelled diesel fuel if you haven't been using a winterizing additive at fill up.

Get a block heater and power cord to keep the coolant warm (100*) in cold temps. Charge then change your batteries.

That sounds like a battery issue. There were a lot of EcoDiesel owners operating their vehicles yesterday in temperatures as low as -24*F.

I tried to remote start mine this morning and he said “nope”. It did crank slowly and then started but I took that as a sign and replaced the main with an H7 and removed the AUX and insulated the terminals in the box with old inner tube and tape. Pulled F42 and it fired right up.

Its 15f here and my diesel glad started right up. I did put some hotshots winter with anti gel in it.
I do put it on a charger via the 7-pin trailer plug every now and then to top the batteries off.

What was the temperature? You can warm things up with electric heaters if you have to. Throw an old blanket over the hood to help keep the heat in.

What guide did you use for the eco diesel aux battery delete specifically? Did you run the aux battery positive cable to the main battery? I’m having a similar issue. Remote start doesn’t work but I climb in and push the button it fires up but then displays a water in fuel light. The light goes away after about 5seconds. I’ve drained the filter and no dirt/water came out. Starting to think this may be electrical.

What gregj stated in his post is the same as I did, it was cold here in Michigan yesterday but blocker heater then started right up. Remove aux, tape connectors, pull fuse, enjoy. No problems since, and it's been a year with plenty of winter driving. The aux battery dying will damage the main battery, u may want to have it tested. Main battery replacement fixed all my electrical gremlins after aux delete.

Thank you. I’ll give it a shot I guess. Seen people remove the battery and take the positive wire and run it back to the main battery and just tape the negative.

Or you guys can just keep your batteries maintained. The auxiliary and main battery should last 7+ years if you take care of it.

I'm not sure that shaming people who have different experiences than you will help you feel better, you may need to look into that biodiesel.

In many climates and operations batteries will last 7+ years. For example the battery in my wife's Subaru made it 7 years, but the battery in my Jeep only made it 4. The Subaru gets parked in an attached garage which is warmer but it doesn't get a battery tender attached. It gets to -17 F here, not as cold as some but that's rough on a battery. Also to be fair the battery still started the Jeep but I was getting electrical errors from the voltage drop that made the remote start stop working when it was close to freezing. Having a dual battery system also doubles the possibility of failure, either battery failing will damage both. I hope this helps your understanding.

both batteries were replaced at the dealership In December of 24. system still does not work right for stop start. now this is happening with the water in fuel light. I replace my fuel filter every other oil change. I change my oil every 4k miles. I do My best to keep things as they should be.

The water in fuel light was coming on in my Jeep also when the battery was failing. The remote start would start the Jeep, the light would come on, then my Jeep would shut off.

Since you had them replaced so recently I can see why you suspect another electrical issue. It's too bad that replacement didn't work out.
