I can’t unsee the weeping eyes/Alice Cooper front end now, so thanks for that ?

Funny for me to think that how stagnant the midsize truck market was when I bought my JT in 2020. Ancient Frontier, old Tacoma, and Ford Taurus looking Ranger and Colorado/Canyon.

These trucks all look much better inside and out. Add in the AEV Bison/AT4/Raptor/Pro4x trims and the options now are much better than just 3 years ago.

I am curious if any managed to squeeze any more space out of the rear cab. Not that there’s a monumental amount of room in the backseat of the JT, but I’d have a hard time with my conscience putting an adult in the backseat of the other midsize trucks.

80k????????

I paid 51k (MSRP was $59,920) for my '23 JTM.......only options I skipped were leather/Cold weather GRP & and the safety shit. My payment is $1300 for 36mos.
Yup, I just built one on Jeep.ca that came in at 83k to make sure I hadn't gone crazy, that's very well optioned of course. Payment is just under $1300/month.

To me toyota is one of those brands that never sets the standard , always taking what other people do and perhaps try to improve on it. Like take a rubi gladiator slap a lift and 37” tires and a winch and you have an absolute beast with very little work. Take a tacoma and try to run 37’s you run into substantial road blocks.

the new Colorado zr2 looks to be a solid offering for that prosumer zone. Not quite as good of a rocl crowler as the rubicon but able to shrug off rutts and handle track and have lower nvh than a Gladiator. The 4cyl mill looks promising too. 430tq in the ho version is great.

as such i think toyota saw this and is trying to copy. Trd pro is merely an appearance package lets be honest.

No way, you're totally wrong! The TRD Pro is basically a trophy truck bro............ hahhahhahahaaaaa well if you're a fanboy on TacomaWorld drinking their cool-aid that is!!

With my past experiences with Toyota this new gen will need to actually be something special. It still baffles me that the TRD logo makes ppl think these things are something special. We already know the new hybrids they're putting in the Tundra and Sequoia are still as thirsty as the older V8's but we know nothing about the reliability yet.

Riding in these things a ton off-road in both South America and Africa I can tell you that yes they are reliable and but they are nowhere near as capable as a stock gladiator Rubicon S or stock wrangler Rubicon is.

I'm very familiar with all three platforms you had mentioned. What nobody knows is the dependability of the new hybrid systems in the new gens

You all know just because you own a vehicle from Brand A you don't HAVE to hate every vehicle from Brand B right? Or even if you do dislike certain things about it you don't have to hate every part of it to justify your dislike?

I don't consider the Tacoma competition because my primary interests in the gladiator were: manual, convertible, doorless. But there are tons of people who own gladiators who have never even taken a freedom panel off let alone a door. Hell my SIL has a Skytop JLU and she said she's only opened it twice in 3 years.

That being said, Toyota is balls deeps in the two tone aesthetic. Personally I and my wife (she owns a black over white rav4 xse) like it, but I have a sneaking suspicion it may be a trend. Like in 2038 you'll see memes on your brain implant chip about "how you know a car was made in the 20s" and it'll be black over white two tone.

While we're still in the midst of the two tone trend, I think the new Tacoma looks sexy. But with a stupid PRNDL transmission and a solid roof it's not moving my needle one bit.
I don't hate it. I just think it has the same problem many vehicles do today, way too many different shapes and lines all over the finders, hood, front end. This is especially a problem with Toyota right now. They are so desperate to escape their boring old man image that they have gone crazy.

Ya a bunch of flashy jazzy look at me stuff that has no real benefit. Based on my conversations people that don't have real wheeling experience look are pretty much the driving factor for whatever rig they have.

Do you imagine that's remarkably different than most vehicle owners? There's a reason the Nissan Leaf is a perennial dog and the 3 had a waiting list for many years.

And if we're sitting here being completely honest with each other, what percentage of mojave owners do you think own the trim they do because of the hood?

I suspect you're very correct! How many Jeep owners got a Rubicon because they were told it was the best and the hood sticker says it all haha, and great point about the Mojave hood!

Meh, looks like all their other models. they lost me after the 1st gen design when they 'roided them out. at least they finally put disk brakes on all 4 wheels. I'm sure it's a fine truck and will do what folks want it to do. just doesn't really do it for me.
