Complaining aside, what would be a dealbreaker?

So do you say that the F150 is a $50K truck. No. That would be dumb. No difference here with the JT.
I say it is a $60-70K truck if I am talking about a Raptor or King Ranch. Does that make me dumb? A fully optioned JT Rubicon will be $60K+. A base JT Sport will not. The last time I checked stating facts does not make you dumb. Maybe you can enlighten all of us with your superior intelligence and show me how someone is getting A Rubicon JT for $40K MSRP

As a JKU Rubicon Owner I am not shopping Sports or Saharas why would I want to go backwards?

I compare a similar equipped Rubicon JT (similar to what I have now which is a Rubicon JLU with every option offered in 2013 except for remote start as at the time I lived in Vegas and didnt need the car to warm up) vs my other options. Based on JL pricing I see it easily being between 60-65K MSRP - 6% below invoice would put it at around $60,200 on the high side and $55,460 on the low side.

For similar money I have a LOT of other options:

-Power Wagon (I can get a loaded one from Dennis Dillon for mid $40s)
-Ford Raptor Super Crew with 802 package - $65,000 - $2,000 off MSRP for $63,000
-ZR2 - With every option for mid $40s
-2019 Ram Rebel Nicely Equipped For mid $40s from Dennis Dillon
-Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Form Mid 40s
-Possibly The Raptor Ranger in the Rumors of the release of it are true at Detroit

I personally have driven a Ford Raptor and love everything about it. I think it looks great, is fast as hell, it has more space, etc. So its a hard sell for me to pay more for something that while very different meets my person needs less if we are only talking a few grand.

Maybe it's just me...but a base Ford F150 is a totally different animal than a Raptor (suspension, body panels, paint, interior trim, wheels/tires, engines, etc).

Whereas a Gladiator Sport and Gladiator Rubicon are but a few options apart (namely suspension, fenders in height only, wheels/tires).

This is going to come down to personal preference and perceived value as to what one gets for the $ spent.

For me, I've owned a big 4 door Titan 4x4 NISMO. Nice truck...errr barge. While fast and comfortable, way too big to be practical in my personal day-to-day use and can't really go where I want off-road. So I sold it and will never again be in the market for a full-sized truck.

I'm not one to load up a vehicle with various options as I just won't use them routinely. Plus I'm performance oriented and I like modifying a vehicle with parts selected from different companies.

All that said, a Rubicon JT with no extra options fits me perfect. And in my head I'm willing to pay up to $x for it. And that $x amount is nowhere near $60K.

If you are a person that likes all the bells and whistles and shops based on most bang (options) for the buck, this may not be the vehicle for you. Especially if Jeep goes crazy stupid on the pricing.

Change Raptor to King Ranch. The engines, suspension, body panels are all the same. There is still a $30K difference in price from the base model.

The point here is a fully loaded JT will cost the same as a fully loaded full size truck. The only question for debate is if the JT's is worth that much. For some the ability to remove doors, remove the top, styling, and uniqueness of a Jeep is worth the price. Others will prefer the comfort and towing/ hauling capability of the the full size truck for the money.

Let's be honest, the majority who get a Rubicon don't ever come close to using it's capabilities. My Sport went everywhere I needed it to and most places it shouldn't have been. Today I would choose a Rubicon over the Sport because I like it better.

SO we have seen what we believe to be a JT Sport and a JT Rubicon. Both still under heavy black diapers.

We have also been told there will be two models and that the JT will be initially expensive.

My prediction is a JT Sport and a JT Rubicon. The Rubicon will be the only model available at launch with the Sport following behind somewhat like the JL 4 door and JL 2 door launch.

Do you think Jeep reads our forum? if so, do you think they make changes based on what they see here?

Maybe they take this small sample size into account earlier in the process, but I think its too late for any major changes.

I would agree with this. I think they probably took community excitement and feedback early on but now it is just a matter of getting it finalized and rolled out. Probably holds true for the pricing as well being "intentionally expensive". I was really hoping they would scale back those comments and clarify a bit further on what they mean to keep us JT faithfuls interested. I am not optimistic at this point that we will see a mid 30K JT Sport and Troybuilt is probably right that the more expensive version will be the launch model. Given the headaches they have had with the JL roll out it is a pretty good assumption they will do it that way and maybe even go further with just a few options available at launch. As the months drag on I am losing faith more and more that we will get what we want when we expect it at a price point that is reasonable.

I have always been a modder. Someone that buys a vehicle and completely changes it with the aftermarket. However with my JKU it was the first vehicle I owned where that was very mild. Reason being is that after 20 something plus cars with mods I got to the point where if I can get it OEM it always seems to last BETTER.

Perfect example is LED lights. I installed 4 different sets (at various price points) on my JKU, and ended up returning all of them. I could never get them to not have some type of issue (minor or large).

When I was in HS I use to install aftermarket stereos in my cars, but now with all the other electrical crap they load in modern day vehicles its not worth the headache so I just opt for the best option from the factory, and if I have an issue I take it in to the dealer and they fix it.

Maybe its because I'm getting old (turn 40 next year) or maybe its just because I dont have the time to waste, as I would rather spend it out exploring vs wrenching.
