So as the radio can technically work without the need for the long whiplike antenna, and I saw the damage from one going through a carwash (another thread), I decided to go with a short one.

But a generic small antenna is boring. I came across this, and really like it!

Yes, that is a Destroyer Grey JT

Let’s see some other interesting-looking antennas.

Yeah I get your point. But as the saying goes: different strokes for different folks.

As long as you like what you got then that’s all that really matters.

My experience has been:

- Shorter antennas will not pick up AM/FM stations as well, which makes perfect sense if you're a FCC-licensed HAM like me and you had to study the nauseating manual about wavelengths, etc.

- Short, stubby antennas tend to be more durable in the mast BUT they're often plastic in the base which allows them to snap off more easily. And trust me, when it snaps and all that's left is the little stud sticking out of your antenna mount it's a PITA to remove.

The OE antenna is by far the most durable and has the best reception. So if you never listen to terrestrial radio, just remove it altogether.

Yes, longer antennas work better. But for the amount of radio listening I do this short one works fine. I am sure once I start driving between mountains the reception will cut out quicj

Deleted mine all together. I don't ever listen to radio channels so I don't see the point of an antenna and the short ones to me just don't look right. Just my opinion.

What size are the antenna threads?

I'm thinking of pulling mine off and capping it.

Is the badge the same as the driver’s side? What was the process to make it happen?
