You are obviously a Trumpster that believes non-expert, non-journalist, talking heads over scientist.
Its actually been proven that all of the precautionary steps Dr. Fauci has advised Trump on, he's listened and taken actions on them to get them implemented. If that wasn't the case,I believe we would be much worse off than we are.

I'm taking this whole Covid-19 thing VERY seriously. If my dad gets sick, he'll likely die. All my clients are in the "at risk" age. I've read even if you're a healthy 30 year old, Covid-19 can F*ck up 20% of your lung capactiy permanently. NO THANKS.

I wear a p100 respirator if I go for supplies, here's my process.

  • Put respirator on
  • slip on "going out insulated crocks from garage" (only used for leaving the house)
  • Put purell bottle in left pocket
  • put just 1 credit card in left pocket, not wallet
  • grab just the keyfob for truck, right pocket
  • get in truck
  • go to store,
  • grab stuff
  • go to checkout and use credit card, only use right pinky if need to sign.
  • go to truck, purell hands, open tailgate, put stuff in truck.
  • purell hands, get into truck
  • drive home
  • exit truck
  • open tailgate, put items into front of garage
  • grab clorox wipes, wipe down tailgate handle, driver door handle, door, steering wheel, dash, shifter, ECT.
  • wipe down handle of one item, lift up wipe down other 5 sides of object, set down in clean spot, wipe down all objects bought in this manner.
  • take out keyfob, credit card, purell bottle and wipe all those down.
  • wipe down garage door knob to house, open door slightly.
  • take off respirator and wipe that down.
  • take off insulated crocks in garage.
  • take off shirt, pants, socks inside out, wad up into ball.
  • push door open with bare foot, put clothes ball directly into washing machine.
  • Yell for wife to open door to bathroom and start the water for shower.
  • Take shower
  • Resume Quarentine at home and if I get sick......don't know what else I could have done other than being a bunker prepper.
Is my process overboard? ABSOLUTELY, by design. I need to shave my beard for more effective seal of respirator, might do that today. I've had a beard for 10 years now.....

Here's me and my respirator.

My process has just been hand sanitizer and quarantining items I purchase. In my defense though I don't own a mask, and don't see being able to find one till this is over

Well the good news is that unless you are treating someone medically, masks are of little value to you, so don't worry about that. The best advice is to keep your hands clean (hand sanitizer...or even better, soap and water) and don't touch your face until you can clean your hands after being out. Limit your time in public, and when you have to do it, maintain a 6ft buffer btw yourself and others. This has been proven to dramatically reduce the spread. This thing can be so much worse than anything you've ever had....there's just no way to know wether you will end up moderately ill (worse flu you've ever had) or severely ill and on a respirator...so please keep yourself safe, take it seriously until they find a way to treat this thing. I work in Healthcare and so too does my wife (family physician)....most days we feel like we woke up in a science fiction movie. Be safe my friends, we will get through this...

[Until somebody can show me why COVID-19 has only killed 10% as many people as influenza, I refuse to believe that this is worth destroying our economy over.]

Covid 19 is pulling ahead:
Flu season is hitting its stride right now in the US. So far, the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020
Coronavirus Deaths:17,226

Thats good to know, though I did see a decent amount of people masked up sunday at the grocery store (but they could have been the ones hiding at home in their forts of TP). I think at times like checkout it is hard to keep that 6ft bubble.

The uncertainty of it is what really scares me, and the fact that being in my 30s and having young children, my family could have it and not even know. I know there is risk to us, but odds are I could do more damage to others then myself. I have a huge fear of passing it on to my parents who are in the high risk groups due to age and preexisting conditions.

yeah, i had one for wood working prior to all this. quarantining items you get is smart.

They say 24 hours it can live on cardobard or 3 days on some plastics, but I just read an article that said they found it active on that Princess cruise ship, 17 days later on hard surfaces......

Precautions may appear silly now and nobody will ever know if they helped you or not, but we've all got a shitload of time on our hands now, so ......

I just read the 17 day one as well. Scared me when I saw that. Up until that I thought that giving something 24 hours in non lab conditions was probably overkill, now I am not so sure anymore.

That is true about the time on our hands. I am personally going crazy. I was the guy that went into the office even on optional work from home days. This whole mandatory work from home thing is new, thats for sure.

i disagree. The 6ft "suggestion" is to reduce the probability of the Covid-19 virus encapsulated in aerisolized(spelling?) saliva from winding up in your lungs. If you own a respirator already, WHY NOT WEAR ONE IN PUBLIC? because you feel silly when you're the only one.........

6ft rule
limiting your time in public
respirator

All measures to reduce the chance of the virus from entering your lungs. A mask/respirator also limits your ability to touch your mouth/nose. So its doing 2 things to reduce your exposure.

People keep saying if you're not a medical employee a mask is of little value, but that's because they want to limit hoarding. I've already volunteered to give 2 woodworking respirators to ER doctor friends of mine, but they declined because their administrations won't allow them to at this point.

If you have a respirator, i say wear it, but don't hoard them.
